OK guys we got Monte Carlo tomorrow and I got 5 Warthogs on the start lists. With Lagat, Radcliffe and Szabo I could pick up some more places here. Neither Marion or P-Block are entered so Sturrup may get some points and Sacramento is a wild card. She, like Szekely, hasn't performed to last years standards.
I was thinking about racing 5K tomorrow night in Savannah but it is supposed to hit 100 in the afternoon and even at 8:00 PM I'm guessing still around 90 with 80% or more humidity. I may wait for Saturday morning and a return trip to Bluffton. |

Marion Jones is on the starting list for the W100m. Did you hear different? Should knock Sturrup down a place--we have her too.
Good luck with your run. (overheated) |

That could make it tough for me to make up ground on Micah...
They must've updated the start lists. I see Marion is listed now, but she wasn't as of Tuesday or Wednesday. I was worried that my #1 horse would be staying in the stables this week! Uh-oh, Allen Johnson was scratched. That brings me back down to 4 entries.
It was 93 degrees at 7pm by my computer last week...

This game can make for some interesting head-to-head competition.
Fighting Warthogs (150.4 pt lead) vs. Team Run-Down
Carla Sacramento W1500m Michelle Collins W400m
Chandra Sturrup W100m Nicole Teter W800m
Paula Radcliffe W3000m Marion Jones W100m
Gabriella Szabo W3000m Larry Wade M110H
Bernard Lagat M1500m
Should be close--maybe a slight advantage to FW, extending their lead.
(There goes our support from Dan.) |

Hey Steve, I just noticed you're from Eugene. We've now covered most of the Willamette Valley...
I told you guys he's astute!
Quote: | Carla Sacramento W1500m Michelle Collins W400m
Chandra Sturrup W100m Nicole Teter W800m
Paula Radcliffe W3000m Marion Jones W100m
Gabriella Szabo W3000m Larry Wade M110H
Bernard Lagat M1500m |
You're probably right that Micah has a slight edge this week, but I think I'll come out ahead on the first three of those matchups, and possibly the fourth, as well. The question will be if I can do well enough with those 4 to counter Lagat's likely 160 points. It'll be a tall order, but my crew hasn't backed down from a challenge yet this year. They haven't had to, they've run for cover long before all such challenges materialized...

Baby steps... I set a goal of cracking the top 100 and catching Micah. One down, one to go. It'll take a top 75 effort to catch him, so that makes a natural next goal. Of course, you've already been to the top and fallen from grace , so it's a tougher outlook from that vantage point...

Got that right !!!!! WAtching all those numbers on the way down can make one dizzy !!!!
One major thing that I did not take into account was that this is a year without a World Major ... So rest, experimentation, etc is the norm and not the exception ... I should have known better |

Secondary Match Up of the Week:
Since we have Chryste Gaines, Marion Jones, Chandra Sturrup, and Bernard Williams in common, it boils down to this:
#5 Bruce R. Berry (24.65 pt lead) vs. #6 Steve Prince
Michelle Collins__W400m__________Natalya Gorelova___W1500m
Regina Jacobs___W1500m________Hicham El Geurrouj__M1500m
Anier Garcia_____M110H__________Bernard Lagat______M1500m
Jon Drummond__M100m__________Abdul Aziz Zakari____M100m
Maurice Greene__M100m
_______________TOTAL__= ???_____________________TOTAL = ???
Ouch! No catching Bruce this meet! |

I figured a non-championship year would tend to make people compete more (nothing to peak for), not less. Shows what I know...
Steve, that looks like a darn tough competitor to catch this week. Might be better off looking at the top 4 to see if the two of you can catch any of them.

True
Michelle Collins just got Team Run-Down 76.52 pts--not too bad considering the W400m had two NR's set! Ana Guevara (MEX) clocked 49.25 and Lorrain Fenton (JAM) 49.30. |

Bummer for Team Run-Down in the W800m--no Nicole Teter!
Wouldn't it have been fantastic to see her go against Calayatud's 1:56.09 and Mutola's 1:56.16??? |

I just saw those results... I was hoping for 90 points out of Collins (early season form would have had her pulling in about 120-150 per meet), and without Teter's 160+ in the 800, looks like my hopes for this week are sunk...
That 800 looks like it was a heckuva race, though.

Carla Sacramento picks up 89.99 pts for Fighting Warthogs in the W1500 giving FW a 13.47 pt lead--not looking promising for TRD. |
