I DO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously, I am biased in favor of the Peachtree. I think what makes Peachtree special is that it is one of the highlights of the year for Atlanta and it draws attention from the entire community and not just the running community. It is run on July 4th and it begins the Indepence Day celebrations for the entire city. The course is lined with spectators from start to finish. So, it is special because of its impact as more than just a race.
Now I am sure that there are a lot of other races that have the same impact on their cities: Bay to Breakers, Bolder Boulder, Falmouth, Utica Boilermaker, Bloomsday, etc. It's just that I haven't run those, so P'tree is the one that stands out to me.
But then again, any time runners get together any where and engage in competition it has to be a great event!!!

Well I must say my favorite marathons are:
Deseret News - in Salt lake City Utah
Park City - Park City Utah
Top of Utah - Logan Utah
Mesa Falls - Ashton Idaho
Great Potato - Boise Idaho
Day Break - Spokane Wa.. ( ULTRA THON )
best half thon is Race to Robie Creek - Boise Idaho
so if your ever in the Boise or Utah area you should be able to find a great race to run.. |

DG, Liked your reference to Albuquerque. One of the problems, though, is that it is set in a bowl and can get quite smoggy for several days at a time. During the summer it gets quite hot and humid. But there are so many places close by to train. One hour drive and you are in Sante Fe at 9000 feet. Plus NM governor Gary Johnson? is a triathlete!! I agree that it is one of the best kept secrets. |
