I have been running for about 4 months now and am up to 3 miles.
I noticied today I have been getting stiffness in my knee. Any suggestions?

If you've been running for 4 months and have only noticed stiffness for one day, then it's far too early to be concerned. If it lasts for a few days or becomes uncomfortable to run on, then it could require more attention.

As far as suggestions, I would need to know more details, such as what surfaces you run on, how old your shoes are, what size runner you are, what pace you run at, distance each day, etc.

Having good running shoes less than 3-6 months old is essential for keeping good leg health.

I also have some knee problems that cause stiffness in my knees. I have what is called a high "Q-Angle," or quadriceps angle. This means that my knees bend inward towards one another slightly and then my lower legs bend outward, causing mistracking of the patella and patellar friction, resulting in swelling of the knee and stiffness. Icing after running helps, and anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen can help, though be careful about chronic use.
