I saw this on another forum:
"While you exercize your ear membranes soften, this means if you listen to music (at any volume over a soft whisper) while you exercize your hearing will weaken and over an extended period of time. A guy I used to work with jogged 3 times a week while he listened to music for 4 years and his hearing ability has been halfed." |

Once, and only once, and never again, I listened to a tape while running a marathon...the theme from Chariots of Fire.
Took me awhile to realize it, but my pace became controlled by the pace of the music - when the music was fast, I ran too fast, when the music was slow, I ran too slow.
I finally handed the player to a friend on the sidelines at about the 6 or 7 mile mark.
Don't know about the exercise factor, but it's absolutely true that the past several generations have significant hearing loss from tape players/CDs played too loud through earphones, and rock concerts. Mad Dog Mike www.training2run.com |

Hey, do you have one of those?
I love old movies, and have a collection of several thousand on VCR tapes.
I was thinking of getting one of those little projectors, so I could project the films on a "Big Silver Screen."
Have any of you guys er gals used one of those projectors for films? I'd love to project an 8 foot image of Roger Banister breaking the four minute mile for the first time. Mad Dog Mike www.training2run.com |

I've replaced most of my VCR favorites with the DVDs, but yes, I'm very much into home theatre. In fact, I just added the major remaining piece to the puzzle this week, a super nice preamp. I've actually started looking at projector systems, but there's a lot of information to wade through and no one choice seems all that good just yet. You can buy $15,000 CRT projectors for $500 to $1000 now, but there's so many technical issues with them (I can forward you a really enlightening document on the matter) that I'm not sure I want to jump into that. DLP seems to be the up and coming favorite type. Another problem is that I can't possibly fit a projector screen into my current arrangement... It's too small for a 32" TV, as it is.
Ok, now we're really drifting off topic!
