When you are in the best shape of your life and you are confident of your physical preparedness, to me that is 95% of your mental battle. Dan, I'm about 2/3 of the way through "Speed Trap". I think Francis would concur with that.
Other than that, anxiously awaiting Mad Dog's 100th post!!

95%, huh. Is that one of the stats, of which Dan and I were speaking?
When you *think* you are in the best shape of your life, and are confident, that *is* the battle . Or something like that .
Am I nearing 100? Didn't realize it - what a blabber mouth I am! Mad Dog Mike www.training2run.com |

Congratulations, Mike!! I liked the castle pictures, too. Ultra running, writing, and building a castle, too?? I'm exhausted, I think I'm going to have to take a nap!!

Dear PNB: The castle pictures on the paper mache site (www.fakefuit.com), are a couple of years old - I've done much since then.
The tower is finished and so are the battlements. Rather than medieval, it now looks like something from King Arthur.
One of the website visitors is making flags for me, and that's really going to set it off.
As you can imagine, my neighbors (none are very close), think me a kook (ecentric), and they are certainly correct. My dog, though, thinks I'm perfect (you've seen a cartoon of him running on the running site).
The area I'm in, is perfect for running - interesting hilly trails all over the place, and a 400 meter track only a fifteen minute walk away. Life (knock on wood) is smiling upon me. Mad Dog Mike www.training2run.com |

All right, all right, eccentric isn't spelled ecentric - but the thought was there.
Just received the results magazine from the Houston Marathon.
Two years ago they stopped awarding big money prizes. No surprise, but the finish times have gone right back to what they were 25 years ago - 20 minutes slower than when there was prize money. Mad Dog Mike www.training2run.com |

You live in a castle? Very cool! One of my step-grandmother's neighbors lived in a castle at the end of the lake...

While the castle in Mexico is of my own design and construction, when I lived in southern Italy (on the Adriatic), I lived in part of the castle from which the Fourth Crusade set off.
Where was your step-gram's neighbor's castle located? What was it like? Mad Dog Mike www.training2run.com |

It was in Monterey, CA. You couldn't see much of it from the lake (back side of the castle), but they apparently had a mini-zoo in their backyard. Being a young un' at the time (I think I was 7 last time I was down there), it was quite enchanting.

Dear Dan: What a fantastic sight and memory for a young kid.
My castle has no zoo (unless you count the dog and I), but we do have a view of a lake. Mad Dog Mike www.training2run.com |
