Just got a copy of the new book, Marion Jones: Life in the Fast Lane: An Illustrated Autobiography, in the mail yesterday for review. Lots of good pictures that seem to delve below the glossy surface. Haven't read any of it yet, but I'll post a review once I dig into it.

I'll be curious as to how it reads ... I was very surprised that she would put it out at this particular time ... with all the negativity surrounding her AND the fact that she supposedly says some negative things about folks like CJ, and Trevor ... IT could come back to bite her in the butt ... But we shall see ...

On the book front found a copy of Speed Trap at a library nearby (doing an online search) and am going to pick it up this afternoon ... Been dying to read this book ... And couldn't be more relavent right now ...

I asked that same question of the marketing intern who set me up with the review copy. She said they've been getting asked that a lot, and they figure the timing could go either way, much like Clinton's book. No such thing as bad publicity?

Nice find locating a copy of Speed Trap. I think you'll enjoy it immensely.

I don't know if it's all a plan of advertisment but her ex husband Hunter said that she took drugs too in Sidney and he saw her doing it.

I don't think that Marion is looking for that kind of publicity ... Although I have wondered why she would publish this book at this time anyway as it was sure to attract this kind of publicity at some point ... All money isn't good money and all news isn't good news ... Sad

Apparently hunter gave his statement to anti-doping authorities stating that he personally injected banned substances and that she received drugs from balco and coach trevor graham.
the 2 1/2 hr interview took place on june 8 in raleigh , NC.

Jones lawyer joseph burton issued a statement branding hunter as embittered and out for revenge.

Isn't it funny how according to the JOnes' camp everyone is a liar except her ??? CJ, Conte ... Course she hasn't addressed Tim's comments ... But CJ is embittered ??? Why ??? cause they got divorced a few years back ??? If he were so angry why didn't he say something then ??? He's only talking cause they called him in and put his hand on a bible and threatened him with perjury if he didn't tell the truth ... I want to represent the prosecution !!!

it,s hard to tell who is lying and who is telling the truth anymore.

Jones seems such a graceful and talented athlete endowed with athletic ability it seems hard to imagine that she would need to use drugs.

Her performances are great but her times were never so exceptional that they defied belief like flo-jo.

One thing that has to be kept in mind with drug use is that it is often to maintain a level of performance as much as it is to get there. Steroids are a training supplement -- faster recovery = more work load -- not a racing aid...

She lost endorsements and I believe had to return her Sydney medals, but I don't remember hearing whether she had to return winnings.
