I do believe that Chyla's use of the US-invented load--unload and support—no-support techniques was bound to reap benefits and teach by example. The results of the 7th European Festival of Track and Field / Dolcan Cup were amazing by the Polish standards:
-1) in spite of the +2.1 wind, these results are of the highest national quality with respect to the Polish standards:
100 meters:
1.Kamil MASZTAK 10.21 seconds (personal best 10.43 w. +1.7 w.) born in 1984
2.Przemyslaw ROGOWSKI 10.23 (personal best 10.40 w. -0.8 w.) born in 1980
3.Lukasz CHYLA 10.30 (personal best 10.20 w. +1.5 w.) born in 1981
4. Michal BIELCZYK 10.35 born in 1984
plus 3.5 wind born in 1986 and 1987:
1. Mikolaj LEWANSKI 10.37
2. Mateusz PLUTA 10.41
3. Karol SIENKIEWICZ 10.44 (club Podlasie Bialystok)
4. Fabian ZIOLKOWSKI 10.50
5. Jacek ROSZKO 10.52 (club Podlasie Bialystok)
One important conclusion: the Polish men's 4 x 100 m relay should both improve the Polish national record that has lasted for over quarter-a-century, and should win medals during the world and the Olympic championships both in 2007, and 2008.
Besides that Blanka VLASIC (CRO) won, by 10 centimeters or about 4 inches over the entire field, women's high jump with 2.00 meters (or 6'6 and 3/4''); Virgilius ALEKNA (LIT) won the men's discus throw with 69.43 'toss,' and the first runner up, Piotr MALACHOWSKI (POL) with 65.84 meters; Sandra GLOVER beat Anna JESEN(POL) to win women's 400 m H in 55.00, and 55.44, respectively; Native of Poland, Marek PLAWGO began racing this year over (400m) hurdles in a grand style with a win in 48.88 seconds; Stephanie DURST won women's 200 m in 22.51, and Dwight THOMAS (JAM) men's 200 m in 20.32 (Poles, Bejnar finished fifth in 23.07 in the women's race, and Jedrusinski in the sixth place in 20.6; in 1500m Iryna LISHCHYNSKA (UKR) won in 04:06.19, Lidia CHOJECKA (POL) was second in 4:06.71, Lisa DOBRISKEY (GBR) was third in 04:06.85, and Sylwia EJDYS (POL) was fourth in 4:08.23 with Irina KRAKOVIAK (LIT) in the fifth position in 4:08.77 – a great race that could be an area final – I believe that fans were glad that men's 100-- meter races started the competition with a promise that was fulfilled in the very last competition of the day: women's 1500 meters.
