this is an interesting year. It seems I have found a foolproof method of loosing weight **1. Which means I have lost almost 20 pounds.
And guess what: running becomes too easy .
For the last 4 months I have practised with a group of people who run the Munich Marathon (but without me)! I come more and more to the conclusion 1500m would be my distance. We did a lot of track work as 12 * 400, 20 * 200, 8*1000. I don't know what it is good for a marathon runner, but I loved it. Track is cool, awesome, ... there were also a couple long runs 20 to 30 km , not really my distance.
I try to remain on track, loosing some more pounds could mean a decent 10K time (45:00?) , nothing is impossible.
Regards
Peter

Good work Peter. Do you have a 10K on the schedule? _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

DEVIL'S HILL!!!!!!!!!!
You got to love that. I bet this will be a tough course so don't worry too much about your time. Cross country course can be very tough so times don't mean as much there. But they are great fun....my favorite type of race.
Let us know how you do. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

Tell me about it. I was trying to project how some teams coming down from Alaska would do in our race last Saturday. They all ran a full minute faster than their best times I could find, and we got spanked... Apparently, many of the courses up there are run on cross country ski courses and are brutally difficult.

Trying to make sense out of cross country times is an imprecise science at best and an exercise in futility at worst. Did you factor in the training bump they get from running away from polar bears? _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

We started already with hill runs, and sprints on steep hills. Uhh, I like that feeling, when at the end your brain bursts .
Are there any other recomendations? Do I need long runs (2h)?

PeterJ, since you are training for a 10K I'm not so sure the value of a 2 hour long run. I am a beliver in specificity of training so I would not recommend a 2 hour run that is going to be at a pace a lot slower than your projected race pace. I am a believer in a shorter long run, maybe 8-10 miles, at closer to your expected race pace...maybe 60-80 seconds per mile slower. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |
