Hey Everyone, I have been somewhat AWOL for awhile due to first one thing and then another. But I am back for a more regular stay. I was doing fairly well this year with a half marathon and 12K early in the year. Then I ran a couple of 10K's on successive weeks that were both AG PR's. I ran a track 5K at 8:30 pace, a cross country 5K and most recently a road 5K. But all year I have had a nagging pain in the outside of my left foot that would flair up for a couple of days after a race or hard run. The x-rays show a bone chip and I go Tuesday for the results of an MRI and to see what the treatment options are. The doc says it has probably been slowly cracking for as much as two years and it picked last Friday to finally break off completely.
In the mean time though, I have kept up with the training threads and it looks like there is a lot of hard training and impressive racing going on. That's great! I'm looking forward to a slow and conservative rehab and a return to racing next spring. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

Given your past few years, my initial thought is "too much too soon" with regards to the racing.
The bright side is, your break should heal faster than mine did last year, since it's just bone and not tendon.

Saw the doc yesterday and he said there were no other issues aside from the bone chip. So I am in a "moon boot" for 6-12 weeks. I am going to rehab very conservately so I anticipate starting "fitness" walking around Thanksgiving and transitioning to a 2-3 mile slow run by New Years. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

Now that brings back memories... I was in a walking boot from August to November last year. The kids on the team would make clicking noises as they walked alongside me.
