I have come across some hats online ( www.head-lite.com ) that offer a runners model with a built in light. I like the concept but I am concerned about the heat that the hat may hold in while running. Any input?

I've never been able to run with a hat for long, even in very cold weather. Within 20 minutes, I feel like a tea pot whistling for attention...

I run in a mesh Nike cap fairly often. I wear my hair real short so I need it to hold heat in when the weather is cold and to keep the sun off when the weather is hot. The longer the run the more likely I am to wear it.

Thanks for the feedback on the mike hat - I like your quote from David Horton - I had him as a professor in college and became good friends with him. He is a great guy.

I really don't know anything about your location and the weather there. Here in Michigan, the weather can get to be pretty cold. So a hat is almost a neccessity on very cold days. By cold days I mean below 40sh degrees. Normally I wear a knit cap or thick headband during this time. As spring rolls around, I use a baseball cap to provide some warmth and protection from the sun.

It has to be well below freezing or I can't run with a hat for more than 20 minutes or so.

What color is the hat? If you're running in the dark I'd guess it's relflective, right?
