Maybe Indoor success there is why he keeps going back for Outdoor races?

Hey, Mo had 8 legal sub 10's last year - another 3 or so windy ... Fit he is still one of the best in the world ... Why wouldn't he continue to run outdoors ... I think a lot of people wrote him off because he had 2 down (for him) seasons ... But he has stayed at or newar the top of the list each and every season since 1997 ... Not too shabby ...
I'm curious as to how the trash talking MLF will do !!!! See if he can back up his words .... _________________ Conway

I meant Outdoor races in the UK specifically. Those don't seem to go well for him as often. Generally weather issues.

Now THAT I agree with ... Not sure why he would want to go there except I would imagine that the money is usually good ... But the weather is not conducive to great sprinting in Britain during the summer ... _________________ Conway

Doesn't seem like it ... Yet they host a major IAAF meet annually ... And they are always in the running for World Class events ... Go figure ... _________________ Conway

QUOTE
"Borzakovskiy makes first 800m outing
There are also men’s events at 60, 400, 800 and 3000 metres. The 800m event will be the most attractive for the Olympic champion Yuriy Borzakovskiy will make his first 800m start of the year. He has so far raced over 400m (46.5 PB in Shchelkovo on 16 Jan) and 1000m (2:21.46 in Yekaterinburg on 7 Jan). His principal rival will be Isaac Songok from Kenya.
Sprinters from USA, Cuba, Poland, Italy, Ghana and other countries are due to start. There are no evident leaders in these events. In 60m Hurdles Yevgeniy Pechonkin and a bunch of his Russian compatriots are due to compete with Olympic 110m Hurdles fifth placer Stanislav Olijar from Latvia. "
One other event which will be sure to attract the attention will be women’s 400 metres with 11 of the entrants having results better than 51 seconds in 2004, of these Olesya Krasnomovets looks to be the favourite."

The Russian Winter: I guess that the high jump meet in Poland will take all the best high jumpers away, and that the big American stars are more likely to run in the British Isles; however, I believe that when it comes to the middle--distance and long--distance runners, race walkers, other jumpers, and field athletes, the best athletes are going to be in Russia in a couple days.
Moreover, the best non-British European sprinters are going to come. I love to see what my native Poles are going to do.
One problem: any starting list is near impossible to find.

___I think that there is more to it. I believe that Mo needs to get his groove back. After the accident, he has never come back. His leg is not 100.00% the same, and a difference of 0.5 % may mean nothing to an amateur, but it may mean a lot to a professional.
___Let us recall that there was recently a world class athlete from the U.K. who did not notice that one of his legs was 1/4 of an inch shorter than the other untill he started to run sub 10.20 seconds 100 meters on the regular basis.
___Moreover, the way Mo starts leads me to believe that he is a little on the flat foot side (he ducks out). Dashers on the flat foot side are likely not to raise their knees high enough (exellent on the hop test, but o n l y great on the reach-high jump test when it comes to the world class athletes).
___Marion Jones's feet, on the other hand, are over--arched. She has a control--problem. She does raise her knees too high when she runs "tries to knock her teeth out."

I don't see any problem with Mo's knee lift. I'd actually have to rate it among the best out there.

I agree that Mo's lift is fine ... I do think that he spent a lot of time last year getting back in rhythm - especially the first part of this race ... So perhaps he had improve a bit on last year's performances ... Scary thought ... But then prior to the injury we were talking about him running 9.7x !!! Perhaps that is in store this season ... _________________ Conway

___Well, the injury could have a bright side to it - - he might have been going too fast, and might have got injured anyway. Moreover, he did not disappoint anyone.
___Could Mo improve on the world record?
___I believe he could.
___Could Slim Tim or Timothy Montgomery do it?
___Unless he runs another perfect race at even higher altitude with the perfect wind of 2.00 meters per second, I believe that he cannot.

My answers, in reagrds to your (Indeurr) questions, would be as follows:
Yes - Mo could improve the 9.78 current WR if he is 100% and gets pushed through the line by someone like Asafa Powell, Shawn Crawford or Gatlin, perhaps even Obikwelu....
No - Tim Montgo cannot improve on his 9.78WR, in fact I believe that he will never go sub-10 for the 100m ever again...
Perhaps 2004 was just right for Mo, I mean he proved that he could comeback from two tough seasons (2002 & 2003) and still be amongst the top of the world's sprinters...his 9.87 in Athens was far from a technically perfect race, so I feel that there is much left in the tank for Mo...this season should be the unfolding of the story. _________________ Doubt whom you will, But never yourself.

I'm in agreement, here. I think Mo did a stunning job of coming back from 2 poor (for him) seasons. Not that many people come back the way he did after losing that groove. I think he can build on last year's successes. I would just hope he doesn't over race. _________________ Paul

I think that has been Mo's weakness the past few seasons - over racing .... I think at this point in his career a fresher Mo is a faster Mo ... _________________ Conway
