Last year The Daughter decided to run her first marathon at the Marine Corps in Washington DC. She just trained to jog through it and did in 4:47 and change. So this year she decided to see how much she could improve that time with the goal being a sub 4 hour. I worked with her to put together a training plan and she met a good running partner at grad school and everything was going great.

Her training plan called for a last long run of 24 miles 3 weeks before the race. She and the training partner did it at an 8:26 pace. Then the training partner realized that an 8:22 pace would give them a 3:40 marathon time and qualify for them for Boston. So that became the new goal.

So yesterday they ran the Richmond Marathon and shortly after finishing The Daughter called and said they ran right on the proper splits and finished in 3:38:28. Boston Qualified!!!

So far this year she has also finished 3rd at a 15K, 5th at a 5K and 18th of 217 women at a trail half marathon. She is doing good.

haha well its always been my dream job - I tell everyone thats what i would do if I ever won the lottery...
