Does anyone think that this kid from Nebraska can take it to another level. He has dropped his times from the 10.50's-10'70's range down to
a p.b. of 10.24 last season. He is a senior and he played football for a
few years and just came back to track in the last couple of years.I'm
not sure if he's for real yet but he just might be with more training under
his belt.He is sticking with track for good and is done with football. Thanks for your opinions guys.

Care to be a bit less vague with the framing of the question? HS or college? Name??? Someone you know? How could 10.24 not be for real? Me thinks there's more to the story...

Stamer is a senior at the University of Nebraska ... Do I think he is the real deal ... No I do not ... His PR is 10.28 but he is not consistent at that level ... And frankly (and I think this is what the original poster was trying to get at) the guy was only 10.60 and 22.51 coming out of high school ... He's mostly tried to be a football player at Nebraska ... And frankly I would suspect that he would not be able to pass your average drug test .... And he runs like a football player - not good for high level competition unless you can clearly "bull your way" away from the competition ...

My take on the guy anyway ..

Unless I was blind last night (entirely possible), the name wasn't given in the thread title at the time... Neutral

Perhaps... Been physically broken down and sick the past few days, mostly in bed. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!

So then you would probably say that his form is so bad that it is too late to change.Hooker was a football player for Washington several years ago and he turned out great.I can see what you mean about Stamers form though because he seems to be fighting himself out there. What college guys do you guys think will suprise this year. Both east coast and
west coast.I like college track just like college football and I love to be
suprised every year by the new talent. Thanks for the info.

I'm not sure if it is too late as much as I think most people have a base "form" that just can't be changed ... Michael Johnson had to adapt his base form as he could not be turned into your average sprinter technique wise ... You would never have stopped Lee Evans from rolling his head ... Donovan Bailey would never have been a "drive phase" sprinter ... Some things you just can't change ...

I'm not sure if there will be a lot of "surprises" out there this year ... Only because there is a wealth of sprint talent in the colleges right now ... Guys like Tyson Gay, Tyree Gailes, Brendan Christian, Marc Burns, and Wallace Spearmon are just a few of the guys who should be budding stars this season ...
