I think I fixed everything up.
http://run-down.com/fantasy/index.php?go=full_results
Thorsteinn gets pipped at the line by a late surge...
No other movement in the top 10, but Chris Baptista falls just shy of breaking into it with a huge last meet effort.
I managed over 1,000 points in meet 10 despite what looked like a paltry lineup, yet I still lost a spot in the standings. Abeylegesse finally competes and breaks her Fantasy scoreless streak, winning the 5k ... but it comes in a meet with 3k and 5k and she ends up only 3rd in the combined standings, netting 40 less points for place. That wouldn't have gotten me 22nd, though, as Kurt Steege (one spot ahead of me) also had her...
Micah finishes 4 spots ahead of Paul in what will likely be remembered as the most dramatic and heart-wrenching battle of the '04 Fantasy T&F season...
Reiterating what we talked about in the other thread, the pricing/scoring model seems to be working really well this year, with some nice cutoffs separating the elites from the rest of [us] mere mortals: 10,000 for overall score, 1,000 for top scoring athletes, 1.0 for score/cost ratio. And no one event seemed to dominate the lists unlike the previous two years, so things are much more balanced out now.

My congratulations to Conway for the top 10 placing and to Dan for a phenomenol improvement from last year. Graeme and Induerr did well too. In fact Paul and I were the only regular posters who didn't do too well this year. But that is ok. It was fun and I already have a strategy for next year that is garuanteed to put me at number 1. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

Well, I feel pretty good ... I finished 9th after starting out 97th ... A better first couple of meets and ........
I think the contest went very well this year ... Nice balance ... And the pricing couldn't get much better I don't think ... It's taken 3 years, but that's not bad at all ... I'm really proud of this contest ...
And Micah owes us a meal I do believe !!!! _________________ Conway

Well Dan, that should leave plenty of room for collard greens, grits and catfish.
And leave more hoe cakes and banana pudding for Conway. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

Hey, I can eat Catfish too !!!!
But seriously fellas, we've been here since the start (contest wise) ... And here we are at the end of an Olympici year with the contest intact and better than ever ... I think its kind of a proud moment ... A lot of folk have prediction contests, but this is the only season long contest that I am aware of ... THAT is saying something ...
I told you Dan (seems like a long time ago) that we'd make this site famous and known by many !!! _________________ Conway

I must reiterate what all have said and I am sure you know this was a great season and a great game - Yup I snuck up and pipped you at the end... Have to rethink some of my strategies and hopefully at least move up a few places next year...
However I will still be around posting on the otehr forums for sure... The site is great and extremely enjoyable I have been very busy doinga bunch of things lately and I basically stayed away from any chance of hearing anything during the Olympics... |

I'm glad to hear you will be chiming in on the other forums. We pretty well have the west coast covered and I do my best for the steamy south so it will be nice to get a New York perspective. Do you run and race as well? _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

Yeah I will be for sure I have a few posts in there already where I believe I have been able to add something to the conversation. Been a long time track and field fan and yes I do run and race. I try (as best I can) to get in around 50 miles per week with easy and hard days and at least one long run a week. My current goal is to run 3:15 at this years NYC Marathon and Qualify so that I can run Boston in April. I train one person now as well but also have done more in the past. From what I have seen here this look slike a great group of people with which to exchange ideas and general chat with and I look forward to actuively participating as much as I can! |

Ah, so you're Kurt... Nice to attach a name to my nemesis.
You had me big early, dropped off in the middle, then slowly crept back into the mix the last half...

Must have been that well practiced lean at the line.. hehee
Yeah I really had quite a drop off after an auspicious opening..., slowly worked it back up after - tried very hard to find some bargains and some were good others not so good.. live and learn right! We shall see next year!!! |

OK AM Runner....a 3:15 marathon is great!! Qualifying for Boston is a goal of mine too but I am not very close to it right now. I am located about 60 miles west of Savannah and we didn't get any bad effects from this years storms except for some heavy rain, but it wasn't enough to flood us. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |
