1 Adam Steele 44.57
2 Otis Harris 44.57
3 Mitch Potter 44.58
4 Gary Kikaya 45.02
5 Kelly Willie 45.28
6 Sanjay Ayre 45.29
7 Brandon Simpson 45.40
8 Richard James 45.82

___It does not mean much. Not only American athletes are known to set their personal bests when they start on their home soil...
...However, if they keep it up, they will be able to improve the 4x400 m relay world record.

A few sub-45's is promising, but it's serveral lightyears away from 4x400 WR territory...

That race was HOT ... And 1st and 3rd were two tall skinny white guys from Minnesota !!!! Yep !!! Had control of the race by 300 ... And Potter stumbled and fell at the end or he might have gone a bit faster !!!! Harris showed well late in the race ... These kids could make things interesting next week in Palo Alto .....

Was the finish as close as the times indicate? If so, that must've been quite something!

Every bit as close ... One of the closest races I have seen and I was at the 84 Trials which had some doozies ... The final day was great and pointed to the strength of team competition ... The marks overall were not the greatest, but the closeness of many of the races ... And the fact that everyone was guttin it out for their teams made for awesome competition ... And that in the end is the name of the game ...

I think as long as the level of competition is reasonably high, close finishes are what makes it fun to watch. I'd take that any day over either top flight meets with little competition up front or even more tightly contested low quality affairs.
