For an American kid in the mile who swam or played basketball low 4:3#'s. For a Kenyan kid running 7 miles to school one way 5 days a week mid 4:1#'s.
As for the sprints that's not really my area but I would guess maybe 10.4# in the 100. Although like I said sprints aren't my cup of tea. _________________ Time is the fire in which we burn |

Excuse me for a moment while I bring this thread back on topic... Here are the current ranks:
Lurker (0-9)
Water Boy (10-99)
Junior Varsity (100-249)
Varsity (250-499)
Semi Finalist (500-749)
Medalist (750+)
How's this look for a possible amendment:
Lurker (0-9)
Water Boy (10-99)
Junior Varsity (100-249)
Varsity (250-499)
All-Star (500-999)
World Class (1000-1499)
Olympic Medalist (1500+)
Post numbers are of course pulled out of the air... Adds another tier now that Mad Dog is on track for varsity in another week and the titles seem to flow a bit better. Thoughts?

I like it, Dan, but it gives you nothing to shoot for. How about also adding Extra-Stellar 3000+ ...or maybe "Attack from Mars 5000+ Mad Dog Mike www.training2run.com |

I've got my own motivations. The ranks are intended for community involvement, not my own... For my support forum, I use a separate rank to signify who I am, not my number of posts.

Okay Dan, I like your new suggestions, and I'll wait until I hit 2,000 before I request the addition of Xtra-Stellar...or maybe even an actual "Mad Dog" category. Mad Dog Mike www.training2run.com |

Dear 999 (wow): I've got some old tarnished (but cherished) medals and trophys (with arms and or hands broken off) that you are welcome to use until yours are regained. Ur Fren Mad Dog Mike www.training2run.com |

Conway, you may briefly lose your medals, but when you get them back, you will have jumped from any ol' medalist to an OLYMPIC MEDALIST!

I will be fine ... That which does not kill us makes us stronger ... ... What is important is that we have a viable system .. And with the growth of the group here change is necessary ... |

"That which does not kill us, makes us stronger." Didn't Conan say that! I love that movie - have it on tape.
The scenes of him going round and round, pushing the gristmill, getting older, bigger, stronger, and wearing a trench in the ground are fantastic...a graphic depiction of my life. Mad Dog Mike www.training2run.com |

Yep. Good eye!
I've also made a little modification to the forum software to include the ranks in the FAQ:
http://run-down.com/forum/faq.php#13
That'll automatically update with any changes to the ranks system, so there needn't be any confusion over the setup.
I need to make a few new rank graphics now...
