Personally I love the idea ... I think a part of the problem is that the groups are out of touch with the "common fan" ... They do a lot of things that they belive will attract, but instead often end up alienating their core fan base !!! Not to mention what they do to the athletes ...
Do you have any reaosn to belive they might be willing to participate ??? ie. any previous conversations, emails, etc ???

I have reason to believe there's a tiny chance I could get a receptive ear, but no indication yet that they would be willing to participate... I've only contacted T&FN thus far to feel out the interest, and I haven't heard back yet. I've previously had contact with the USATF and IAAF media/web folk and they have expressed their familiarity with and appreciation of Run-Down, but that's miles away from committing to what we're talking about here...
And yes, that would be an incredibly unique offering to the running community.

Great idea Dan. If you can pull it off it could be one of the most significant happenings in this sport in years. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

Indeed, but that's one of the bigger "if's" that's been tossed around these parts in years...

Well .... Nothing to lose and MUCH to gain ... have to take a little risk every once in a while in order to make significant gains ... The risk here is rejection ... That's not so bad ... Now purchasing high tech stocks - THERES risk

Which is why I cash my coaching check and invest it equally between lottery tickets and a coffee can buried in the back yard _________________ Time is the fire in which we burn |

Was it unexpected ??? I don't think so ... I know you can't force people to compete, but there should be some form of "Honest Effort Rule" calling for "champions" to compete ...
One competition outside their walls this year... And kederis stands to rank #1 in his event (although Gatlin should but that is for another discussion) ...
As we have discussed favorite athletes in another thread, I am going ot add the athlete I most respect this year, and that is the young Turkish lady who won the 1500 at the Euros ... Süreyya Ayhan ... While her win was a shock at the time ... She has since proven on he Euro circuit that she is NO FLUKE ... She is for real ... but she did that by subjecting herself to competition and testing right along with everyone else ... I respect that !!!
