T&F may look like a big sport here from your US perspective, but it's still a minority pursuit

That's actually my perception of UK T&F -- not a very large base and poorly funded, yet fairly successful in spite of that.

You know, I'm not sure that Track and Field is the number 1 sport of ANY country !!! Crying or Very sad Between Football/Soccer in the majority of the world, and Professional sports (Baseball, Basketball, Football) here in the states, track is always somewhere down the ladder ...

I tend to be more impressed by what smaller nations are able to do BECAUSE of how limited their resources are ... On the other hand that is precisely why I get so disappointed in what goes on here in the United States - we have an abundance of resources, just can't get them to the athletes !!!

The one problem that I wish both the US and UK (as well as other countries) is how to stop young talent form falling through the cracks ... Too bad more moneoy can't be funneled down to youth athletics ... Some of the millions for example that were spent on the end of the season farces last year should be targeted for youth instead of wasted ....

Track isn't even the top sport in Kenya - football is.

Javelin throwing is the national sport of Finland though!
