Well THAT was interesting !!! What long sprinters is he referring to ??? The only long sprinter that I can think of that was American recently was Everett ... And I believe he is retired now ... And as far as I am concerned the problem with the 800 in the US is that they haven't learned to run fast ... IN case no one has noticed, major races these days are won under 1:44 !!! And close to sub 1:43 ... Running 1:45 won't get you out of the rounds as our guys should be familiar with over the past few years ... So not sure what Kenah was talking about ... Course may explain his recent failures .. Sad

I had the same reaction to that quote. Seems all the current 800 US guys would be equally likely to do well in the 1500 as the 800, but they would blown away in a 400...

It's hard to argue with Kenah, being one of the few Americans who showed the ability to do well in a kicker's race, but his comments do seem indicative of someone who dabbled in the 1500 and is for some inexplicable reason now running a marathon. Wink

One thing that often happens with athletes, is that they may be very good at something and really not understand how they do it !!! That is why very few end up being coaches .. Or at least very good ones ...

And looking back at Kenah's success, perhaps he had no sense of where the pacae was going and just ran on strength and guts at the end not realizing that he really does have some speed !!!
