I do believe that in the competition such as the area and world championships as well as in the Olympics, a sprinter or a team of sprinters should be allowed one yellow card throughout the entire competition; the yellow card would be carried to the subsequent heats in the event until the final heat is over.
In other words; let say an athlete receives the yellow card in the 1st set of preliminary heats; this card will stay with the athlete until the final heat is over or until the athlete receives the red card (another yellow card).

This would make sense if any, even slightest, pre-gun movement gets called such as a flinch of Mr. Capel.

In any other competition, I have no problem with an automatic D.Q.
nota bene:
In the ancient Greek Olympics, in the race over about 200 meters, if the refs saw an athlete step or cross the starting board, they did beat the very athlete with sticks and he had to go back home in infamy!

With such a system, that would make it okay to twitch and cause someone else to jump in the prelims, but not in the semi's... The punishment should be the same in every round, in my opinion, otherwise it introduces nonsense like all the false starts in a decathlon sprint event.

Aside from the yellow card thing, I think they should be doing that to all of those doping sprinters Laughing
