I think my fingers are cramped now... I managed 3061 points for 5th place out of 6, but I fittingly came through with a huge 2:11 for 3rd in the 800m! I had great races going in the 100h and 200 but lost my rhythm mid-way through... Those jumps and javelin are a mystery to me, as alternating between the B and N keys makes it rather difficult to hold the space bar and maintain any speed to speek of. I had a nearly 16m shot put in practice, but only managed 12.75m in competition... First one to 4000? Smile

I went back for seconds and still ended up 5th (3560), although I only missed 4th by 10 points this time... I got 2nd in the 800 despite running out of gas with about 50m to go and having to walk for a bit, but I was well behind the winner's stellar 1:55...

Argh, 3875 but still 900 points out of 4th, despite a eye popping 2:02.06 for 800... Sad

I'm starting to get the hang of the field events (that's my 3rd time all the way through), but my forearms are starting to cramp at inopportune times...

Well, 4th time was the charm ... almost. I scored 4432, but still missed 4th place by 200 points. Sad I pr'd in the him jump and had near bests in the jav, long jump, 800, and 200, but lost nearly 700 points on a foul in the long jump (I wanna see the plasticene!) that would have added 2m or more... Something about the 100h and 200 absolutely kills me in that game. I can smoke the 800 at WR paces, but I've only broken 32 seconds once in the 800 and only sub-18 a couple of times in the hurdles. What gives?

Here are my best scores (some from memory):

100h: 17.14
high jump: 1.72m
shot put: 15.75m
200m: 31.x
long jump: 4.8x (?) - 6m foul...
javelin: 42.x m
800m: 2:02.06

We can at least get some individual event competition. Smile

I think I'll put my keyboard to bed now...

Yeah, I feel almost as sorry for those B and N keys as for my poor fingers... Looking at those top scores, I have to think people have found some way to fool the B-N toggle system. Maybe some automatic key stroke to make the game think they're being toggled faster than humanly possible?

#5 finally got me a 4th place... 4534 points, with improvements in the HJ (1.84m) and SP (16.80m), with a 2:03 for 800m. I ran a practice 200m first, finishing in 27.20. Amazingly, I was right on the leader's heels, on pace for a 24-flat, until I inexplicably stopped moving right at the end. Sad Thinking I had finally figured out the rhythm to the 200, I started the actual game and stumbled through a start and stop 38.x! That thing is a complete mystery to me.

Now I remember why I hate video games...

I never got past Pong and the original Space Invaders myself. Missle Command kind of maxed out my playing capabilities.

Interesting how the events that are easy for one person are impossible to the other, and vice versa. Seems to be something about the particular computer being used...
