Dan, the reason GoldGoldGold couldn't see their name on the list is because the link for "2003 View Full Results" actually brings up 2002. Also, isn't Athens on July 4 instead of the 26th?
Thanks for doing all this work, for our fun.

Ah, I see what happened. Thanks for pointing that out.
Looks like you're right about the Athens date. I hope I didn't mess up any others...

If you haven't logged in yet and looked at the athlete lists, you'll be in for some surprises with pricing changes this year... This year's formula:
=FLOOR(((x-1000)^3)/8400, 1)
where 'x' is the athlete's IAAF rank for last year. Yeah, I tweaked last year's formula a tad... Makes for much wider pricing gaps between top level and lower level athletes. There are a few athletes in there that can be picked up for pennies on the dollar.

How can I change the name of my team ? It's rolled over from last year, and this year I would like a different name. |

Looking over the overall score/cost ratios after 8 of 10 meets, it looks like the above formula might be a keeper.
5 athletes with a ratio of 1.00 or better.
19 athletes with a ratio of 0.50 or better.
Nicely distributed mix of big names and diamonds in the rough...
Asafa Powell is the highest priced athlete in the top 31 at a mere 2116. Bernard Lagat is the first athlete priced over 4000 at #64.

Yes, the distribution seems to work well this year ... Buying "names" was not the trick this year ... Will be interesting to see how the spread works next year once everything is factored in ... At least as where the top names fall into the scheme of things .. _________________ Conway

I like that there seems to be some nice, natural breakpoints between the tiers of values. Seems to imply we've finally hit the elusive target of making athlete selection anything but a certainty.

Definitely ... I know that money did not buy me place this year ... But taking a good look at "values" did ... Makes the selection process tougher, but better ... I agree that we may have finally found that balance point ... _________________ Conway
