|
|
Hey guys, I've been in school this past week. I was at Columbus State U. in Columbus, GA which sits on the Chattahoochee River, the dividing line between GA and Alabama. One of my classmates and I went to the river on Thursday and ran alongside the Georgia side to a bridge and then across the bridge into Alabama for about a mile before returning to civilization.
Why would we do such a thing?
Because I have this silly little goal of running, and racing, in every state and DC. So now I can add Alabama to the list. The list is below with an r beside the states where I have raced.
Georgia (r)
Tennessee (r)
Florida
South Carolina (r)
North Carolina (r)
Virginia
New York
New Hampshire (r)
Alabama
Mississippi (r)
Louisiana
Texas (r)
Oklahoma
Indiana
Michigan
Colorado
California (r)
Hopefully we will all be around and communicating when I add the final one to the list. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

You are right! I haven't made it to Oregon yet. But the Masters T&F Champs are held at Hayward Field every other year or so. That is the event I want to come to Oregon for _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

If you need a place to stay, I'm about an hour (some might say an hour and a half, but they're weenies) from Stevenson Track, aka Hayward Field.

Some of the states I ran in when I was in the Air Force: CA, CO, TX, NH, NY, MS
Some were trips I took because of work: MI, IN, LA, OK
And the rest were because I happened to be there on vacation or specifically to race.
I didn't mention Mustique, Grand Cayman and the deck of a cruise ship somewhere in the Gulf of Mexico. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

I was always worried that if I ever went on a cruise, I'd be the only person geeky enough to run on the track on deck. Glad I know someone now who's already done it.

Time to update the list.
I now have two races in Virginia and this morning I added Maryland to the running list. The daughter and I did 9 miles on the C&O Towpath on the Maryland side of the Potomac River. Part of this trail is used in the JFK 50 miler. It was very pleasant weather, lots of shade and some great scenery. Especially the rapids at the Potomac fall line. I will be adding DC pretty soon when we do a running tour of the major monumnets.
I hope to run races in Maryland and DC also before I leave but I'll just have to see how the schedule works out. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

Micah,
You have been running in VA and MD, and I have been running in Maine. I have a 4 mile this weekend, and the Beach To Beacon 10K in two weeks. Ran a 5k near Portland two weeks ago (then checked out L.L. Bean's). I am beginning to think I should skip the 10 hour drives and just move there....or run the races in my own area....naaaa, that would be too easy Glad to see you are having fun running with your daughter See ya on the 26th
I just have to get back on trails soon, this road running is killing my joints

Maine is a great place!!!
Can you believe I lived in NH for a year and never ran in Maine? Stupid me. Yeah, trails are the best. We ran on trails here in Quantico yesterday. Some of the "non-runners" actually complained about the roots.

If we ever make Run-Down t-shirts, I nominate that as one of the slogans.

Welcome back
I guess you have had enough of frosty libations and chasing scantily clad beach bunnies? _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

No frost for me, and the only beach bunnies I chased were on roller blades...
