Ok, so your answer wasn't anywhere in the previous message... What was that training schedule you listed before? Just the week of an ultra?

Dan, this is just another example why it was a good idea to break up the Running Discussions like you did. I have made posts where I couldn't remember a few days later where they had been placed. I remember Mike's workout that I think you are referring to, but I can't remember where it is either.

And now you don't know what forum they were moved to.

It was actually earlier in this thread, 6 posts above yours.

While I have discussed some of my marathon training, I don't believe I've discussed Ultra training...but I may be wrong.
At the moment, I am training for a series of marathons (Sept, Nov, Jan and April), no ultras are presently in the offing.
As for forgetting where I put posts, or what I said, I can't even remember where I left my running shorts .
Awh, oh, where did I put my keys? ? Mad Dog Mike [/url]www.training2run.com |

I am posting this because I have just been through Dan's training links and found that he has a 1500 regimen that includes 400 x 12 at 1500 pace which would verify my post on 20 June at 5:22. I have read through these before but they are always worth reading again. Also the "guest" section ha some great articles. If you haven't had a chance to read through Justin's articles, you are in for a treat!!!

I hope you're saying the training page in question meets your approval as far as defining the paces being discussed?
I really ought to move that 15x300m workout to the 1500m section... I did it while training for the 800m, but it was my 1500 that improved during that time, not my 800.

Thanks for mentioning that. I'm not sure if everyone is aware that our own Justin in the forums is the same Justin who wrote several of the guest articles and prepared the sprint statistics.

I have never read anything that doesn't meet my approval. After all, I am not a distance person. My expertise is in power development, periodization (I'll try to leave the micro's, meso's, and macro's out ), and some nutrition. In fact, we need somebody to occupy the other end of the spectrum!! We have a Distance Guru, and he's got his hands full in this Forum as it is!! What we lack is a Distance Neophyte. That would be me!!
Yesterday I got kinda bored so I went around to some other sites. What an eye opener!! Read through a thread on Teter that refers to her as Teteroid!! Then I read through a thread that discussed the hottest babes in cross country and track. Though it didn't quite enter the realm of pornography, I was surprised on how it bordered on filth. If they said things like that about Micah's daughter, for instance, I would like to be on hand to see the wrath as he slices his way through the whole lot like Samson through the Philistines with a jawbone, uh... am I getting carried away here, or what!!
Anyway, I enjoy the links, I enjoy the advice, I'm in for the long haul!! OK, cart me away before I get too carried away, here!!
Paul

If I didn't know better, I'd think you were reading the TNF Media forums, but those passed away a year or so ago... Dare I ask where you stumbled across such rubbish?
Micah might take offense to someone challenging his know-nothing status.

Ah, that would make sense. They probably attracted a lot of the TNF Media crowd after its demise.

I jealously guard my Forrest Gump status Paul. And from the looks of my fantasy t&f team there isn't much chance I will loose that status.
I know what you mean about some of those other forums. I saw one where a guy was really ranting and raving about not getting to compete at a meet because another athlete had died in a pole vault accident and the rest of the meet was cancelled. His thoughts went along the line of, since he did not personally know the pole vaulter then why should he be deprived of competing just because a stranger gets killed! Needless to say I have not been back to that one.
One of the great things about this site is that we have maintained our civility even in our most spirited debates.
In the words of Forrest Gump, "That's all I have to say about that." |

That story reminds me of one maybe 25 or more years ago in a big meet in the Bay area. Mike Weeks was throwing the shot and one of the referees was not paying attention, and the shot literally slams into his head. They cart the ref away in a stretcher ( he later died ). The first words out of Weeks' mouth is "Hey, I get another throw, don't I !!" The remaining refs are kind of dumbfounded, but, yes, he gets another throw. Pumped, Weeks steps into the ring and launches s PR !!
