I am a 51 year old who won a half-marathon at 49 years of age. About one month following the race, I injured the achilles on my right foot. Apparently, I have a partial tear at the insertion on the heel. Is there a surgical option available at my age? I tried one shot of cortison which lasted for about two months. To maintain fitness, I've been training very seriously on stationary bikes ever since the injury. Running is out of the question. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Contact a local running club or college running coach and find a doctor who has a reputation for treating running injuries. Even better if he/she is a runner too.
Good luck. |

I had a tendinitis on the achilles tendon and I went to a physiotherapist and he just treated me with a method called mesotherapy. In 3 weeks I was able to run again.
I don't know if you're problem is the same. |

If it's a partial tear then I have to echo MW's advice find someone in your area that can refer you to a specialist in this type of injury treatment. _________________ Time is the fire in which we burn |

What's mesotherapy? Hopefully not in the same vein as mesocycles...
