Yeah he seems to be a bit overweight this year. Power is good but sometimes too much of a good thing can be bad.
As for my 100 yard list which I promised the forum a while ago I have finally compiled it. The top 10 marks for 100yards for Men are listed below.

Thanks for the 10m splits Xking, these are great! Gatlin finished like a steam train in that race. I actually thought he was behind until the last 20m - deceived by the angle of the t.v footage I guess. Should be an interesting year, J.G v A.P. |

ROM:
00-10m: 1.71 (minus reaction time)
10-20m: 1.05
20-30m: 0.90
30-40m: 0.85
40-50m: 0.83
50-60m: 0.82
60-70m: 0.83
70-80m: 0.85
80-90m: 0.85
90-CL: 0.87
Note:These measured statistics were captured from NTSC video of the race.
Each touchdown step was observed and calculated for rate and flight distance using Premiere Pro for actual recorded time and slow motion/zoom.
Split distances were determined from track markings.
Though a DLT method was not used, a two dimensional template was established using Eagle Eye Software to determine body position and angle reference as best as possible. |

Looks like pretty good speed maintenance.

Stride length was estimated @ 2.54m (var ~ 3%/9 trials) during maximum speed. Calculated @ 2.61m (var ~ 2%/5 trials) between 90-100m.
Good sprint mechanics and lift during both segments.

In response to stride length, overstriding from running down hills is what adapts the legs to a certain length. _________________ My favorite all time race: Hicham El Guerrouj - Prefontaine Classic Mile 2002 http://youtube.com/watch?v=4YykUTHzOL8

Fantastic analysis. The first numbers I've seen for Bolt's 9.72. Anything on Tyson's 9.85 ? I'd like to compare it to the numbers I have for his 9.84 Zurich 2006 & the official figures for his 9.85 in Osaka last year |

Unfortunately I was not able to do a similar breakdown for Gay. I understand that there may be an analysis by others that will afford some insight into his performance in that race. |

I'd be curious to see how the 9.68 (wind aided) and 9.77 (wind legal) differ in that respect. Does the extra tail wind negate the slow-down at the end, or is fatigue still fatigue and the difference is a steady 0.01 or so each 10m segment after the runner is upright?

I wonder although one could argue also that while I am sure it made a difference that they are two different races and he was just more up for the second race... he did get a better start in the 9.68 run as well _________________ The long run is what puts the tiger in the cat. |

9.77 Split Info
9.68w Split Info (IE)
Would expect the difference was more a factor of stride length than frequency. Particularly in form of measurement. |

Interesting also in that the first 50 meters were almost identical _________________ The long run is what puts the tiger in the cat. |
