The Magnificent Seven:
The Japanese fought bravely, but courage does not guarantee a victory; they finished 5th, 6th, and 7th, Ogata, Osaki, and Suwa, in 2:17:42; 2:18:06; and 2:18:35; respectively (all times Season Bests). The Tree Warriors missed the bronze medal by 17 seconds, and the 4th place by 1 second.
Asmeron from Eritrea was 4th.
Luke Kibet won in 2:15:59; and Shami edged Rothlin for the third place in 2:17:18, and 2:17:25, respectively.
Knowing how log does it take to get ready for a marathon race of the year such as the world championships' final; I have to conclude that sadly, but next year during the Olympics in China only one of the Japanese Warriors will reach top ten; I would, however, not speculate on his place in the top ten.
The best of the Chinese were the 28th Chica-Che CHANG of Taipei; and the 33rd Wei Su of the 'Communist' China as well as the Haiyang Deng in the 36th , they finished in 2:26:22, 2:28:41—SB, and 2:29:37—SB, respectively.
So—called Communist or Democratic: Chinese are Chinese (regional differences set aside, and with the exclusion of Tibet). _________________ http://vincovitanj.tripod.com/Do_not_be_a_victim1/index.htmlhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u43o595CARQ

Who lost at the start (lanes): Iakovakis and Kunkel will be left behind; you may think that running in lane 2 or 3 does not affect you in an adverse way in 400 m race as it would in a 200 m race, but I beg to differ. Running in lane 2 or 3 and clearing hurdles, most especially the eighth hurdle, makes it near a mission impossible to medal, not to speak of winning, when you start the race in the lanes 1, 2, or 3 in the 400 m hurdles.
James Carter has already peeked this year, and he is already on the other side of the hill; he will do well, but will not medal.
Danny McFarlane will use lane 9 to his advantage (running on “straight” all the way), and take the 5th place in front of not only Kunkel and Iakovakis, but Williams: PB's do not run, but experience does help.
Lower 4 Prediction:
8. Adam Kunkel CAN
7. Periklis Iakovakis GRE
6. Derrick Williams USA
5. Danny McFarlane JAM
Upper 4 Prediction:
4. James Carter USA
3. Felix Sanchez DOM – experience counts, but age does matter
2. Marek Plawgo – he was supposed to improve his PB before going to Japan; if he drinks water, and stays in shade (geniuses some times do lock common sense), he will be in top three
1. Lane 4: Kerron Clement will see everyone to his right; he will calmly keep on passing them over the first 300 meters; he will try to relax over hurdle 9 and 10 not to stumble, and finish strong afterwards to prevent characters such as “Sneaky Polak” (I am Polish—American, I can write it!), Plawgo, coming from behind when it is too late to react.
Re-cap:
1.Kerron Clement USA #1 (“USA number 1: I represent!”)
2.Marek Plawgo POL (“I want to thank the track and field fans, most especially Polish fan base, and people who belived in me, and helped me like my coach.”)
3.Felix Sanchez DOM (“Like Cal, to be like Cal ... Ripken: if these kids did think...
4.James Carter USA (“I was robbed.”)
5.Danny McFarlane JAM (“Felix got his medal, but I will still make money off the world class meets when I am going to be as old as Cal just before he retired.”)
6.Derrick Williams USA (“What the hell; I thought we will sweep:1-2-3 USA!”)
7.Periklis Iakovakis GRE (“I have nothing to say. I will try again next year.”)
8.Adam Kunkel CAN (“Hey: “O Canada” is not just to the north of the USA.”)
It is sad that an athlete such as the world champion will miss the final due to an error.

Check out the Photo Finish for Heat 2 of the Men's 200. Good thing they all qualified, or there'd be some real disappointed athletes.

|
|
Men's 200 meters:
Heat `1
1-2 Usain Bolt JAM and Wallace Spearmon USA
3 Francis Obikwelu POR
4 Marcin Jedrusinski POL
5 Brian Dzingai ZIM
6 Rodney Martin USA
7 Churanday Martina AHO
8 Bryan Barnett CAN
1.Bolt and Spearmon are just too fast.
2.Obikwelu did not make even the semi-final in the 100 m, and he is experienced
3.Jedrusinski has just established a personal best in the heats, and advanced to the final from the second lane in the quarterfinal running from behind, and not getting tight—up accelerating over the last 40 meters, all in one day. This time he will run on a virtual “straight,” lane 9, and will be able to jump from behind. I predict a new personal best (only if necessary to advance); from lane 9, he should be able to run 20.29.
4.Brian Dzingai will see Jedrusinski when it is already too late.
5. Another athlete he believes that wearing the Flag will win for him, and is a neophyte with respect to the world—class mind games and tactics. He will feel robbed, and be disappointed.
6.Churanday Martina will do well, but lane 3 will put him too far behind coming off the turn.
7.Bryan Branett will quit after coming off the turn (lane 2 assignment creates substantial disadvantage).
Heat 2:
1.Tyson Gay USA
2. Marvin Anderson JAM
3. Anastosios Gousis GRE
4. Christopher Williams JAM
5. Brendan Christian ANT
6. Paul Hession IRL
7. Kristof Beyens BEL
8. Patrick Johnson AUS
1.Tyson Gay's supremacy is beyond contention; Jamaicans may try to say otherwise, but it is just talking.
2. Anderson, Gousis, and Williams are faster than the rest of the field, and are in the outside lanes.
3.Brendan Christian's 3rd lane will be his undoing.
4.Paul Hession will do great, but not well enough.
5.Kristof Beyens will beat Patrick Johnson through the lane assignment: 8th, and 3rd. _________________ http://vincovitanj.tripod.com/Do_not_be_a_victim1/index.htmlhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u43o595CARQ

My 100 m TF Virtual RD team members have done well:
Atkins, Mratina, and Fasuba did make it to the final as well as Williams, Edwards, and Gaevart.
My 1500 m TFVRD team was pathetic:
Baba and Baala were dead last in their semifinal.
My 110 mH TFVRD team:
Olijars was great; he won heat 3, in 13.38 SB, and did qualify; and Oliver was dead last to qualify (in the end, it does not matter how, it only matters "if") on time.
400 m TFVRD team:
Sanders won her semifinal heat in 49.77 (PB), and Usovich was on of two women to qualify on the time of 50.31 (in the process, she did establish new Belorussian national record).
100 m H TFVRD team:
Powell did qualify with ease from the 4th place to the final in 12.67, and Lamalle was amongst the group of the non-qualifying finishers (they finished in between 12.82 and 12.9.
I hope not for Javelin, and as to the High Jump, I hope for DiMartino and Zheng.
To my surprise, my TFVRD team may come out from the World Championships stronger than before. _________________ http://vincovitanj.tripod.com/Do_not_be_a_victim1/index.htmlhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u43o595CARQ

Real outcome and my prediction:
1. Clement indeed won; I was right
2. Sanchez was second and not third; I was wrong
3. Plawgo was third and not second; I was wrong
I did predict the top three correctly.
4. James Carter was 4th, and indeed did claim that he was robbed. I was right.
5. Danny McFarlane did indeed outsmart the youngsters to place 5th. I was right.
6. Iakovakis was not 7th, but 6th. No comments.
7. Williams was not 6th, but 7th. No Comments.
8. Adam Kunkel did not finish. No Comments. _________________ http://vincovitanj.tripod.com/Do_not_be_a_victim1/index.htmlhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u43o595CARQ

Men's 400m semi's ... Kikaya, Francique, and Blackwood fail to advance. I don't think I've ever seen that many of the early round leaders fall off at once like that. Granted, those are some pretty fast times run by the guys that did advance, including a couple of national records.

Heat 1: Russia, Poland, Italy, Canada, South Africa, UK, and Brazil (7 teams)
This heat seems easy to predict:
UK and Brazil should take the top two spots; Poland should take the 3rd place (they will keep an eye on the Italians).
Heat 2: Australia, Nigeria, United States, Jamaica, Germany, and Japan (6 teams)
USA and Jamaica will win; but the fight for the 3rd place will be fierce: I believe that Japan will be third, and that Nigeria and Germany will qualify based on time. _________________ http://vincovitanj.tripod.com/Do_not_be_a_victim1/index.htmlhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u43o595CARQ

|
US will win 4 x 400 m men's final; there is no reason to analyze.
Bahamas will take 2nd place unless the Sneaky Polaks will come up with something (e.g., Plawgo running 2nd leg in the final and opening the gap plus the rigor mortise acceleration rip at the last straight away: everyone involved ends up walking, but no one changes positions).
Who is going to be third?
Poland
Polish 4 x 400 m
Begins or 2nd Leg: Plawgo 48.16 to 48.12 400 m H; he shall come as an anchor in the semifinal.
worst_likely_time is 45.35 best_estimated_likely_time is 45.25
Marciniszyn: worst_likely_time is 45.83 best_likely_time 45.54
Wieruszewski: likely_time is 45.94
Daniel Dabrowski: worst_likely_times is 45.50 best_likely_time 45.33
30 + 69 + 94 + 42 = 99 + 92 + 42 = 141 + 92 = 131 +102 = 233
2.33 seconds - 2 seconds for perfect exchanges and -0.75 seconds for a very good exchange:
2.33 -2.75= 0.33 - 0.75=0.42
3:00.00 - 0.42 = 2:59.68
-------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- -----
Moreover, they are all going to be fresh; Plawgo finished running on the day that 1st qualifying heats of the 400 m began, so did all other Polish 4 x 400 m relay members.
I believe that even if they will find it easy to qualify on place, not time, in the semifinal, they will try to run as hard as possible to wear out other teams (about 3:00.00 flat).
Summing up:
My prediction for men's 4 x 400 m is:
1.USA
2.Bahamas
3.Poland
4.Jamaica
I will not speculate on who else will advance from the heats: it looks like UK for the 1st time in a long time will not even make the final, nor the French. I would not be surprised if Botswana makes the final again, since Botswana is the most stable country in Africa (no one cares, though; or in other words not even members of the African community outside of Africa meddle into their internal affairs—this puts them ahead of the high profile countries such as Nigeria: everyone wants to have a say in what happens in Nigeria, and I mean everyone.)
Moreover, next year, I do believe that Sweden will field a 4 x 400 m team.
