Here is the training and racing thread for 2004. Resolutions? You bet! Goals? Of course! What are they? Read on!
I got in 8 races in '03 even though a couple of them were not full out efforts. The goal for this year will be 10 races including a sub 21 5K and a marathon.
I lost 25 pounds in the first 6 months of '03 and then put it (and more) back on in the last 3 months of '03. I'm starting this year at 210 which is the heaviest ever. So the plan is to concentrate on dropping 1-2 pounds a week until........? We will see.
Ran 549.2 miles last year and I would like to do 750 this year. Got to stay healthy to do that and the weight loss will help.
OK, there it is and the pressure is on! Stand buy for weekly updates. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

Good start for the new year. Did 4 easy miles with the Sweet Baboo and then a beginners Pilates routine. I'm going to give the Pilates a try to increase my flexibility. I basically have none! _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

Hope you don't mind me putting my goals in your thread. Here they are:
1. Run a 5:00 mile
2. Keep a log through out the whole year
3. Compete in 10+ races (outside of school). Have my first in 10 days.
4. Run a 2.6 mile race in July in under 16:00 (last year finished in 16:50).
That's about it. May want to do a 15k in September or October. I have a 10k on the 11th which will be my longest race by a little over a mile. Hope it goes well. _________________ November 9th... |

Those are good goals. What are you aiming for in the 10K? Also, are you running indoor track? _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

Indoor track in OR is pretty nonexistent as far as I know. It's probably better that way because running XC in the fall and track in the winter and spring would get to me physically and mentally. So that 5:00 goal is a spring track goal (which would be about a 4:36 or so in the 15 which we run in OR).
I have no clue what to aim for in the 10k. It's only nine days away and I can't get in any very good workouts in this snow we're having. I just got back from a 5 miler where I had to run down the middle of the road unless I wanted to slip on some ice. I think I'll take it pretty slowly the first 5k (maybe 7:30 or 7:45 pace) and then try to kick it up to 6:45-6:55 pace for the next 5k. _________________ November 9th... |

Definitely icy out. I was just over at the neighbor's and had to be very careful walking back up my driveway.

Good idea to start easy. If there is ice on the course it would be real easy to slip and pull a muscle. One race isn't worth that. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

Easy 7 today with my running partner. I hate to mention this but.....it was a very pleasant 75 degrees this afternoon. I guess there are some benefits to running in south Georgia. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

Nice, you're picking it up steadily. 75, huh? We might hit that if we added up the high temp's from the past 2 or 3 days.

I read your original post again and was wondering if you had a certain marathon in mind? That's quite an impressive goal, let's just hope everything works out and you're able to do one! _________________ November 9th... |

The first marathon that I could realisticaly aim for would be in Oct. It is in Bluffton SC and has a half marathon too which I ran last Oct. I might be able to get ready for one sooner but there just aren't any marathons in the summer in this part of the world. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

Well I can't imagine a marathon in the South during the summer months would be very fun. I remember going to that area of the country a few years ago during the summer and I remember it being quite hot. _________________ November 9th... |
