OK,

I`am a 800m runner. PB=1,58.
I ran at 1.58 last year(summer), but this year it seems like i am not going to run any faster. In the winter last year, my training consisted og hard vo2 max sessions, sprint work an 2 weekly anaerobic treshold runs.
At this time i felt in great shape almost all the winter, and I was not far away from a peak. BUT, this year i think I maybe have done something stupid. I have added 1-2 more exstra AT session. So this year I have run more AT sessions, and not so many lactic acid session. I have a better endurance base this season, but it feels like my body dont`t like to run with acid. When i run my AT session i have to turn down the speed when I`am getting just over my treshold. Last year I managed to run quite fast even if i ran with some acid in my legs. I also ran those sessions faster last year, than this year. I think this is strange. Have i done too much and too long AT sessions this winter? Maybe am I overtrained? What should I do too get out of this mess? It feels like I am getting slower every week I train, and I also sometimes have problems with my motivation when I realise that i going too run slower on the 800m this year. Sad
So should I take a week off, and hope I that I will get in better shape, or shold i maybe try to peak and run more lactic acid sessions?

My advice is to back off. You sound pretty stressed out. Take it easy for at least a week maybe more and let your legs freshen up. Do some cross training and don't worry about running, if you feel like running run, if not do something else. Without seeing your entire training plan and race results then it's really hard for me to tell if you're overtrained or not but it defineatly sounds like you could use a little break to let your legs and you confidence recover.

DG (and others): I am confused about the interchangeability of terminology concerning Anaerobic Threshold and Lactate Threshold. I've even seen references to Aerobic Threshold. Don't these terms all mean the same thing, that you are training at a point where your body is producing lactic acid, but at a point where your body is still able to clear it. Confused

That's why I've never made an attempt at learning the meaing of those terms or using them in full sentences... In fact, I tend to completely ignore any sentence that contains them. Sounds too much like high talking, and most people that use such terms don't appear to actually know what they're talking about (not intended as a dig at those who obviously do).
