Need some advice for getting back into training after my first marathon. Took a week off then tried to run but my knees are still very tender. Never had much problem before. How long should I take off? What kind of training will get me back quicker. Have signed up for another marathon the end of October so have to keep on schedule. Greg

My hunch is your body will tell you how much rest is appropriate. If your knees are sore, start back with low impact activities like biking, swimming, and running on soft surfaces. That ought to ease the transition back into training without having to rest as long due to soreness.
