I'm channel surfing today and I see a Golf Channel, a Travel Channel, History Channel, Food Network, Speed Vision and 4 different sports channels. Wouldn't a Running Channel be great? Races, training shows, biographies of runners, etc. Ah...to dream! |

It is hard to figure how some of those niche channels can survive when something with global appeal like running can barely get a major meet televised the same week, let alone live. There are dozens of arguments both ways, but I think it mostly comes down to running being a very poor consumer sport. As long as people think of the only real cost of running being shoes, there won't be much interest to advertisers, which pretty much ensures it won't be on the air.
