my son is on the varsity high school track team. last year in seventh grade he ran the 3200 and 1600. His best pr in the 3200 was a 11:39 and a 5:45 in the 1600. At this pace what should he be looking for in lap times(intervals) for this years improvements. Are these good times for a seventh grader?

I'm not quite sure what you mean about what lap time improvements he should be looking for. Seems to me that depends largely on his goals and style of pacing...

His times are certainly solid for the age, but don't strike me as spectacular (which is a very relative thing). However, as I have said many times, pre-high school performances do not seem to be very good indicators of later success. More often, it is simply a sign of who was pushed too hard by their parents early on.
