Ummm... im assuming, but my track team isnt very big so its a possibility. Ill definatly be running the 400 every meet and then either the 8 or the 2 every meet.

Thats not bad... I think one of the worst triple I had was 400 M Hurdles, trials and finals of 4x200 and and Long Jump trials and finals.. and then had a time trial the day after ugghhh

Also at one point had a 4x800 and as I handed the baton off got called over to the High Jump... ran up to the bar and just knocked it off..

Ran a 800 and a 400 at my scrimmage, not too happy with my times. 2:23 for the 8 which i guess isnt bad for my first 8 every but i am pretty angry that i didnt brek 2:20 at least which i know i could have. I didnt take the first 400 hard enough because i wasnt sure of what pace i could maintain. I did come in 5th overall though. Ran a 58 during the 4, not too bad, came within .5 of last years pr. But overall im not happy with how it went.

Just updating. We won our first meet last week. I ran the 4x8 (b team), 4x4(a team), and the open 400. My 8 was in 2:20 and we finished 2nd and i finished 3rd in the 4 with a 57 and my 4x4 finished 1st and i ran the 2nd leg in 59. It was a pretty nasty day for running, low 40s and rainy. Ive got an invitational sat and a meet tuesday against our school's rival.

Awesome job Steve just keep steadily improving remember its not all about running fast early in the season... Its about being the fastest when the champs come up I think you are on your way...

Yeah, i have definatly been improving. I think i may have finally found my race(s), the 1600 and 3200. I ran the 3200 for the first time yesterday and ran a 11:49, nothing special but i felt good doing it. I really enjoyed running it, more so then shorter races which i have always done. It didnt seem as bad as most kids make it out to be. Well i should be running another one this weekend. Hopefully with fresh legs so i can wat my real good tiem would be (yesterday i ran an 800 and a 400 before the 3200)

Well... it didnt go as well as i expected, i ran a 11:45. I was aiming for a sub 11:30 but i didnt come close. I think ive realized that i dont challange myself enough during a race. Talking to other kids on the team, they see me having the potential to got sub 11:15, sub 11 and a sub 5 mile easily but it just hasnt happened yet. Mayb im just expecting too much too soon. I just have to get used to running these longer distances and build up the mental endurance i need to run them. Ive got the speed to do it, jsut not the mental will, not yet anyway.

There's a big difference between sprinting intensity and the distance grind. Some people take to it quickly, others require more time to adjust.

I agree with that. A distance race is wayyyyyyyyyy more different then i thought it would be. But i just wanted to mention that i pr'd in the 4 last night, 57. Im on my way goal of breaking 55 by the end of the season.

Thanks Dan and i set another pr again last weekend, 56 in the 400 Very Happy. Im extremely happy with how ive been progressing this year. Ive transistioned well into distance training. So much so that im being expected to be the #3 or 4 xc runner next year w/o ever running it (possibly #2 if i work train enough during the summer, which i am planning on doing). Wish me luck tomorrow, im trying to pr in the mile, somewhere in the low 5s
