Like last year, the IAAF athlete ranking lists (which the fantasy league selection process is based on) are not published on their site. I contacted them to see if we could get a copy by email, but I was told, "The rankings were deleted by the IAAF at the end of the 2006." I followed up to see if they have any similar lists that could be used, but I haven't received any response...

Any thoughts for alternative means of pricing athletes for roster selection?

Dan

Is it perhaps possible to use the "top lists" from 2007 which are on the IAAF site?

Those are just time rankings (the IAAF top lists), which means we would still have to assign some point value. I'm not even sure where to begin with that...

Aren't the T&FN rankings just the ordered list by event, with only the Athlete of the Year points specified, or do they show rankings points for everything?

Did you ever get the lists from the IAAF?

If this problem cannot be fixed; what about a prediction competition for the Olympics instead, Dan?

As simple as possible: choose top three in each event: 1st name (middle, if necessary), last, and nationality.
Let say 5 points for choosing the gold medalist right, 4 the silver, and 3 for the third place finisher.
For choosing a medal winner right 1 point, if in wrong place.
For choosing all three medal winners right, but in wrong order 3 extra points.
For choosing all the medal winners right in right order 5 extra points.
Let just say.
It would be much simpler than the Fantasy League.

Simpler, but more time consuming to collect entries and grade them.

I agree but it would be fun nonetheless... Let me know if there is anything I can do Dan.

Not sure how much it helps but I did set up a Run-Down group over on the http://www.letsrun.com contest

If I run across any others I will do the same.
