Hi, When I started training again about 4 months ago my resting pulse was 58-62 bpm. It is now 44-46 bpm, I am guessing this is due to the fact I am getting fitter. Although this seem like quite a substantial drop as last week my resting pulse was 48-50 bpm.
I have been training harder the last few weeks and I am hoping it is an indicator that my times will improve soon _________________ Shaun Fox |

That is a big difference. Did you measure several times for repeatability, and were they all at the same time of day, i.e. before getting out of bed?

I always measure my pulse a few minutes after waking up and take it twice, I take it every morning. I put it down to from doing no excerise hardly to getting up to a regurlar 20 - 30 miles a week with 30+ miles with 3 tough runs in the previous week. _________________ Shaun Fox |

Sounds like you know what you're doing.

The volume of blood per stroke is increasing, which is a sign of increased fitness. If it steadies out at this level, continue checking it because an increase could point to an overtraining problem. _________________ Paul
