It should be a good meet, but may be short on local greats because injuries are not uncommon during area championships. I can see clearly that if the meet management can get the African and European, brand new in both cases, champs and medalists to participate in, this meet may be very exiting (from the perspective of the European fans).

My team for tomorrow:

Me’Lisa Barber

800 m
Janet Jepkosegi

100 m
Olusoji A. Fasuba
Shawn Crawford
Ronald Pognon
Asafa Powell

400 m
Gary Kikaya

5000 m

I think that I will stay in the 20th position -- I hope to finish over all in, at worst, the 21st position this season of the Track and Field Fantasy League.

I believe that the men's 400 m H field is as strong as it would be in two semifinal heats of world championships, if the world championships' semifinal was to happened tomorrow.

Europe:
Men 100m:

Ronald Pognon is mentally week, and connate be taken seriously – he gets tense as rock once he sees anyone if front of him.
Dwain Chambers has been beaten twice by Dariusz Kuc – who the (…) is Kuc?
Kuc, however, may join the rising young Europeans: Andrey Yepishin and Matic Osovnikar who did seem to be another Urbas and another Nemeth, but have proven me and everybody else wrong, at least so far.
The only medal threat in the next year world championships from Europe in men’s 100 m will come from Francis “Obi” Obikwelu. Anything is possible, but anybody else who has made it to the Euro Champs final this year will very happy, if he makes into the world champs next year, and very disappointed, if he does not make the semifinal of the world championships’2007.
I belive that the worlds’2007 will be dominated by the American Islanders and Africans with respect to the men’s 100m. The old good USA will grab a medal as well, but Europe may come back without any medals, and one man in the final.

My prediction is: Gold Asafa Powell Silver Olusoji A. Fasuba Bronze Tyson Gay and/or Francis Obikwelu; possible surprise winner: Shawn Crawford of the USA.

As to Europe and the dashers who will make the semifinal: Yepishin, Osovnikar, Kuc, Chyla, Mark Lewis-Francis, and Pognon. Will any of them make the final? Who knows?

This very meet will help to verify (support or not) my prediction.

RACE 1:
Brunson Marcus USA
Crawford Shawn USA
Fasuba Olusoji A. NGR
Frater Michael JAM
Gay Tyson USA
Obikwelu Francis POR
Powell Asafa JAM
Scott Leonard

To support my prediction the following must happen:

1. Asafa Powell
2. Olusoji A. Fasuba
3-4. Tyson Gay
3-4. Francis Obikwelu
5. Shawn Crawford
6-8: Mihael Frater, Scott Leonard, and Marcus Brunson

Atkins Derrick BAH
Baumann Andreas SUI
Burns Marc TRI
Collins Kim SKN
Osovnikar Matic SLO
Pognon Ronald FRA
Smoots Jason USA
Thomas Dwight JAM

1. Pognon Ronald (may be as high as second overall; it is irrelevant--unless he beats Powell on time with similar wind factor)
2. Marc Burns
3. Jason Smoots
4. Matic Osovnikar (he cannot finish lower than 4th in this race, and 8th overall in the 100 m in this meet)
5-8: irrelevant

I scored 1500+ and moved within striking distance of the top-10! It looks from a quick skim of the list that I managed the 3rd highest score this week, although Yukon Quest had a ridiculous 2050. I'm pretty sure that's the first time anyone's ever broken 2000.

My position in the top 20 is not as precarious as after the last meet, but I cannot be certain of anything.
This meet was probably of the highest quality this year, at least with respect to sprints and pseudo-sprints. Gary Reed was second in Race 2 in 1:44.77, and failed to score any points in a Golden League meet. Yuriy Borzakovskiy was not even in the race in Race 1, and he most likely would not be in the race, if he participated in Race 2.
The Europeans and Africans seem to be in the postseason mode – may be except for some Russians who decided not to participate in the European Championships to make money on the individual basis during the upcoming World Cup.

Dang ... I scored about 1200 and improved my position, but 2000 points in a single meet is unheard of !!!!!!

I was hoping for another top 10 finish but looks like top 20 is gonna be as best I can do, if I get that !!!

There seems to be less movement atop the leader board this year. I'm assuming that means people selected well for the long haul.

Ehi I'm back from my vacation just today, what a lucky result for me Smile

even if my programmed videotapes to record the last days of the EC and Weltklasse are all black Crying or Very sad

a question Embarassed I'm wondering why Eloise Wellings has no points in 5000m (she came 6th in Zurich)

Never mind, I see now. She's under Poppett-Wellings. I'll have to re-score.

Now you've got 2150 for the week. I hope you're happy. Smile
