That's great news! You'll be ready for A.C. Gilbert 5K in Nov. Running in the morning is going to be imperative the next few days. Huge heat wave rolling in.

The guys are planning on doing tomorrow's run real early to beat the heat ... 12:01! Fortunately for me, I'm not in good enough shape to have to worry about losing time if I sit out a hot day or two. Smile

An afternoon (the third in a row) of helping a friend move across town, in this heat, after that workout, has me truly exhausted right now...

Pretty good, other than the complete exhaustion from the moving. I might try running again tomorrow and see if there's any lingering soreness.

3 miles was warm-up and cool-down on soft barkdust trails, with the rest being on concrete. The uphill portion is low impact, so only 1 to 1.5 miles was potentially tough on the legs.

Thanks. I went down to the park by the river and ran a ~4 mile loop. Felt good to get some shade and wind off the water, plus it cooled off to about 80 degrees. I was going to stop and stretch out at the picnic area at about the mid-point, but 1/4 mile before there I ran into our sprint coach who was chilling by the water. First time I've been to that park in over a year and there were maybe a dozen other people there (huge park), and he's one of them... So, I stopped and chatted for a few minutes, then continued on the rest of the way, holding a good pace before and after. That would have to be my best "long" run thus far.

Awesome - I love to do those kind of runs where its just kind of hanging out enjoying the day

The girl I coach is also on her way back from about a year of various injuries- I ran with her this morning a nice easy 3 miles on the track just chatting along as we ran. very very humid though today here on the East Coast

I don't think I could handle East Coast humidity on top of my lack of conditioning...

I ran a tempo workout with the kids today. We were aiming for 5-10-10-5, but the heat was still pretty significant and we were all fairly thrashed after the 10, so we ended up just doing 5-10-5. With warmup, cool down, and cruise recoveries, probably 6 miles total.

That was definitely the hardest I've run extended for a year and a half, probably more. I'm pretty tired and tight now, but hopefully I'll be able to bounce back for the long workout on Saturday, which Paul might be making it down for.

You seem to be getting a decent base of training in currently Dan, Do you plan to do any races anytime soon?

My only plans right now are to get into good enough shape to start training... Rolling Eyes I'm starting to make it through workouts, but it doesn't count as training yet. At least not until I can make it through something without having to stop and stretch my bum leg. It's definitely improving, though.

Just make sure to title it as a training thread, not an injury thread. Wink
