Are orthodic inserts good or bad for running and injury prevention?

Depends on the problem. Only one that can really tell you for sure is a podiatrist. Some things might be correctable by generic inserts, others will require custom ($$$) casted orthotics, and others may not benefit from them at all. In general, if the problem is mid-foot or heel, orthotics have a good chance of helping. If it's in the forefoot or toes, not as likely.

(This topic would be more appropriate in the general running forum or health/nutrition.)
