ditto - its amazing how dead on that statement is...

as for Dan's comment about coaching - don't you think its just silly when people say that kind of thing well this person hasn't run such and such time so there is no possible way that person could be a good coach...

And why does this seem to be the case more so in running than in other sports?

Yes, I do find it very silly, but I'm probably a bit biased seeing as I get it myself all the time.

Probably for the same reason that T&F got hit by the drug scandals so hard so early. It's all about the raw performances, so all that matters to a lot of people is the raw results. Not everyone can see the gradients of achievement and ability, just the on/off switch for wins and losses. In that black & white view, wouldn't you put your trust in the guy with personal experience? What's there for the non-experienced guy to teach in a non-ball sport??? Confused

I think it really comes down to the fact that most people don't understand the sport ... As simple as running is, most people don't realize how complicated it really is and how technical it is ... Its simplicity confuses people !!!
