Chyla has been improving over the last two years: from 6.61 last year to 6.62, 6.61, 6.60, 6.58, and 6.60 seconds this year for the 60 meters, and last year he ran quite a few times in between 10.20 to 10.25 seconds for 100 meters. He is 23 years old.
I think that he will win a medal in the EIC'2005.
He seems to be different, in the way that he practices. He himself and coach Osik are the team coach of him.
Let me explain, coach Osik takes care of the part of practice that virtually has stayed unchanged since the 1980's and the 1990's. Chyla does take of the part of practice that involves the newest methods.
FROM THE WEB SITE OF THE COMPETITION IN CHEMNITZ:
60 m Endlauf 25.02.05
1.Fasuba, Olusoji Adekotunbo 84 NIG 6,51 sec
2.Chyla, Lucas 81 POL 6,56 sec
3.Gardener, Jason 75 GBR 6,61 sec
4.Goebel, Tim 82 TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen 6,70 sec
5.Blume, Marc 73 TV Wattenscheid 01 6,72 sec
6.Broening, Marius 83 LAV Asics Tübingen 6,74 sec
Lukasz Chyla (Lucas Chyla) came in second in 6.56 seconds, I love it. I think that more Polish sprinters should try to copy the best of the American School of Sprints. Their coaches may still live in the 1980's and the 1990's, but they themselves should learn the new tricks so to speak (like in: you cannot teach an old dog a new trick).

When it comes to the guy whose unofficial web site, I did replace on the Internet at www.geocities.com/dekolak/urbas.html _:
and his partner, Jedrusinski, they did well -- like usually, they are trying to get in shape the very last second and steal the show:
200 m Endläufe 25.02.05
1.Ernst, Sebastian 84 FC Schalke 04 20,66 sec 1./III
2.Urbas, Marcin 76 POL 20,87 sec 1./II
2.Unger, Tobias 78 LAZ Salamander Kornw./Ludw. 20,87 sec 1./IV
4.Jedrusinski, Marcin 81 POL 21,14 sec 2./III
4.Wissmann, Johan 82 SWE 21,14 sec 2./IV
6.Mackowiak, Robert 70 POL 21,24 sec 2./II
7.van Balkom, Patrick 74 NED 21,73 sec 3./II
Most especially, I am happy for Robert Mackowiak. He is far from his P.B., but 21.24 for 200 meters, should make him fast enough for the Polish 4 x 400 meters relay. _________________ http://vincovitanj.tripod.com/Do_not_be_a_victim1/index.htmlhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u43o595CARQ

Chyla seems to be rounding into shape nicely now, and his 100m outdoors this year should see some dramatic improvements in the up-and-coming Outdoor season. I look forward to him making an impact on the European circuit, and also in various International meetings. I would love to see him do well in the European Cup, which always seems to provied some great sprint action between European residents. Props to him, and I wish him the best for the future. _________________ Doubt whom you will, But never yourself.

Some of the US athletes have been in hybernation ... But mkost just didn't compete at Nationals ... Those that have run indoors have pretty much confined themselves to competing in Europe ... _________________ Conway

It is a fact that the indoors are either a stepping stone, part of recovery cycle, older junior championships, or a championships of B--class athletes. Even at the world level this does occur. There is not enough money or prestige for people to try too hard.
A prime example of the above statement is Mr. Little, an American 200-- meter specialist. He was not good enough to medal outdoors (20.10 seconds seems to be his ceilling -- he did it in the semifinal won by Obikwelu, and with Marcin Urbas finishing in second with 19.98 seconds the Polish national record -- he was third or fourth and di qualify to the final: the 3rd and 4th runners did both finish in 20.10 -- probably, the fastest semifinal in world championships on record), but he was great indoors.____________________________________________

I think there's a much better reason than that: A full Indoor season on top of a full Outdoor season is a pretty good recipe for disaster. Running all of one generally means cutting back on, or skipping, the other. The top tier know Outdoor is the priority, so Indoor glory tends to get left to the lesser talents.

The indoor season for most is not about competition as much as it is about fine tuning ... Working on minor parts of your race ... Checking your conditioning ... Seeing where you are at this stage of your training ...
Take what you find out and try to make corrections ... And then test again the early part of the outdoor season ... Usually not until around May will you see athletes where they want to be .... Its a very long process ... _________________ Conway

A long process that cannot be rushed, which is basically what a full Indoor season is.
