PeterJ got me thinking about this one when he slammed my Corona suggestion. I am not a regular Corona drinker but I would take it over a Bud, especially in hot weather. But here is the ultimate 5 for me in alphabetical order:

1. Anchor Steam
2. Murphy's Irish Stout
3. Old Speckled Hen
4. Samuel Smith Nut Brown Ale
5. Sierra Nevada Pale Ale

What say the rest of you?

Root beer.......... Confused

I don't know PeterJ. How can you be serious with root beer? Wink

No problem with your absence of US beers. I do not like most of the mass produced beers in the US any way. The only two American beers on my list are the Anchor Steam and Sierra Nevada.

Paul should have an interesting list. Conway....? I'm not sure.

Sorry Micah ... The only beer on my list is Root Beer too ... Never been a beer drinker ... Always tasted like something found in a urinal to me ... Had an uncle give me Heineken once a long time ago ... Wasn't as bad as the rest ... So I guess I could have a list of two !!!

I made it halfway through a Guiness on my 21st birthday at the insistence of friends. Couldn't stomach the rest of it. Conway's description is spot on...

Let's just say, I couldn't imagine a urinal tasting any worse. Actually, the urinal aroma and the beer taste seem very closely related, according to my senses.

I'm glad you spotted that, too, Micah!! Laughing I was going to say that I'll just leave the urinal tastes to the 2 "experts". I will assume Surprised that their posts didn't quite mean the way they came out!! Confused Wink Rolling Eyes

Conway and Dan, I respect the two of you too much to engage in the "pissy" little urinal jokes. Laughing

That must have been my evil twin Evil or Very Mad that typed that post...hehehe...

Paul, we are anxiously awaiting your list.

I have become, I suppose, a British beer snob of sorts. My favorites are crafted by Young's, Fullers, and Samuel Smith. Fullers' London Porter is close to the top of my list, but it has gotten to be too expensive. Young's Dirty Dicks was a favorite last Spring, but it has also climbed in the price range. Young's Double Chocolate Stout is quite good but one is usually enough. I like everything by Samuel Smith except IPA, which I don't care for, period, as a general rule. Too hoppy for my tastes. I can get Sam Smith at Tobacco Town for 35 to 40% less than anywhere else here in Portland. The Winter Welcome is quite good this year. Imperial Stout, Nut Brown, and Pale Ale round out my list. Too bad Tobacco Town doesn't carry Taddy's Porter, which is almost a flagship model. Sam Smith also brews two Lagers that are nice in the warm weather.

Right now, however, I am enjoying a couple of flutes of Korbel's Extra Dry from Conway's neck of the woods. Very Happy
