Scott Sellers of Texas jumped 7-5.25 to break the National HS record of 7-5 last weekend at the Nike Indoor Nationals. The record had stood since 1978.

That kid's got hops! Isn't he the same one that was going over 7' as a sophomore or something?

I'm dying to see how high the kid gets outdoors ... If he can approach the outdoor HSR (7'7") he has a chance to make the Olympic team as our jumpers have not been much higher lately, nor very consistent ...

Sellers has all three (sophomore, junior, and now senior) national records. I wonder just how high he can go this year. I don't beleive that there is any advantage to jumping outdoors. Is there? In fact I have never seen an indoor HJ so I have no knowledge at all.

I believe Indoor is considered "easier" for the HJ and PV because it controls tricky wind and rain conditions. The neutralizing factor is that it comes earlier in the year when people aren't in prime shape and often has sub-par, cramped facilities.

Dan you were correct about Sellers jumping 7' as a sophomore. In fact he jumped 7'2" as a Soph. 7'4" as a junior and now 7'5.25".
