I'm not sure how you could [i]not[/i] experience it ... it's inherent to every treadmill design... Maybe I just wasn't clear in my description? By "pulling away from you," I meant pulling back, behind you. I.e. the tread pulls back on your foot as soon as you step down, making for a less natural running pattern.

Dan:

Have run on many different mills in the gyms. Presently using Life Fitness and Star Trac when running indoors. Have never experienced this pulling.

Maybe, when taking the first step from the floor onto an already moving belt, but this has no relevance to someone running at a steady pace. Though no one has ever mentioned it, one could expect some pulling at pushoff if there were glue on the belt--do not give the writers any ideas.
