Tuff questions. What is your level of training now? Do you want to race to win or run to finish? How much time do you have to prepare?

If you are a first timer I would recommend running relaxed enough to finish feeling good and not exhuasted. To do that I would recommend gradually increasing your current weekly long run by one mile a week to peak at 9 miles two weeks before the race. Then taper for two weeks and run a relaxed pace for the race.

If you are wanting to race though, I need to know more about your current training level. As far as what a good time for a high school girl would be....I'm not sure. You might try checking race results on the net for 15K's and see what that age group is doing.

Mr. Ward is right, your question is impossible to answer. There is not enough data to analyze. Women were allowed to run marathons only since very late 1960s. I believe that in under 18 junior age-group there are few long distance events, and no marathons in official area or world class competitions.

From an auxiliary glance at the results from the compuscore.com, I can see that boys between 15 and 19 ran in two different road races between 59 minutes and 1 h 32 minutes (most just over an hour), and girls in about 1 h and 10 minutes to 1 h and twenty minutes.

Well, I am not a firsttimer...but its the off season for me right now..so I have just been doing trails that go from 5-10miles. I have a month to get ready and I just want to do well in the race, and do the best that I can.

Now we're cooking. If you have been doing long runs of 10 miles then your distance base is probably pretty good. Some 30 minute tempo runs at a little slower than your expected race pace would be good. Also some 1K repeats at a little faster than expected race pace. Those should include about 5 repeats per session with a 1K jog between each fast one.

Those would be my suggestions. Keep us updated on your progress.
