I have just had about 2 1/2 months off from training due to injury (but am now working slowly back towards full training) and I was interested to hear from anyone who has had a similiar long period off and how long it took for them to get back to their original fitness/speed.
I have never had this long a period of time off before, but periods I've had off before I usually gain my fitness back much quicker than it took to get in the first place.

I have had longer periods off and it always takes me several months to get back to an acceptable level. But that will vary with every individual. It probably takes me longer because I take it very conservatively. I start back with a walking only program and very gradually incorporate running back into the mix. Listen to your body and go easy and you will get there. Good luck.
