Recently, Fefonova had improved the indoor world record twice. A day ago, Dragila answered by regaining the title of the world indoor record holder in pole volt. I hope that the world record games will continue well into the world championships.
It will be interesting to see who will get ... the bronze medal. In my opinion it will be either a German or another Russian
When it comes to Poles, Rogowska, circa 20, is becoming a better pole vaulter than the bronze Olympic medalist, Pyrek, circa 23.
The only question that remains in the pole volt is when will women go over 5 meters.

Looks like a very good competition is shaping up, but I'd surprised to see anyone exceed 15' this year. Possibly next, but I'm leaning more toward '05 when they'll be less focused on championship preparation.

Pole Vault records have often fallen during Olympic competition and given where the women are on t ehscale I see this happening in 04 ... They may get close this year - as in 15'10.5, but 16 is still quite a ways from 15'9 which is where they are right now ...

I think the way Women's Pole Vault is going at the momentit has a great chance of going to new, greater than before levels. I believe that it will be Feovanova(I hope that I've spelt that right),Dragila and Annika Becker(GER) that will take the Women's Pole Vault to those levels.
What a great season it's gonna be. I can't wait!!! Very Happy

I know that I'm changing the subject a bit,but I've read in an interview with Sergei Bubka, that they made a special scientific research on Bubka at various meetings. They used a special device to measure which the lowest part of his body was when he cleared the height requested.
I'll have to read it again. And see what it says

I agree, but probably not during the very Olympic final.

She did it during the meet of the Polish national team in Spala on 02/07/2004.

The consultations with the former coach of Bubka are paying-off. However, he did caution her that it will take her about two years to jump over 4.80 m, and that she needs to be patient.
I think that she learned one more thing from Bubka. Bubka competed during the era when the meet organizers started paying for the new records, especially world records -- they were paying modest amounts of money. To make as much as possible of the prize money, Bubka was improving the world record one centimeter at the time.

I want an answer to this off--topic question:
when will women catch--up with men with the respect to the performance level, not the result per se, in the pole vault?
Let assume for the sake of an argument that men's 6 meters is equal to women's 5.30 meters. When will women's world record be at the height of the 5.30 meters?
Does anyone have a problem with 5.30 meters for women being made equal to 6.00 meters for men in the level of performance?
Nota Bene: I know that there are some wishy-washy people who believe in equality in spite of reality, but, please, be real.

What's the point in assuming that? Confused If the assumption is baseless, so too will be the resulting analysis.

___The Polish women are in shape -- I am guessing a sweep in the Indoor European Championships this March -- Rogowska cleared the bar at 4.70 meters in the Indoor Championships of Silesia in Poland, and Pyrek pole vaulted 4.50 meters in Germany. I do not believe that the Russian ladies will go for the indoor championship. However, I do believe that they will go for the prize--money during the meets held before the championships.

In my opinion, I believe that Women will achieve a vault of 5.30m sometime around 2024...just a random estimate...
