Gotcha. In that case, I guess I just FEEL it. Smile You know, sort of like that feeling when you eat waaaay too much at an all you can eat and have the unfortunate task of being the driver on the way home...

There's only one George Clinton... Rolling Eyes

Ever hear Wonderful World, Beautiful People? Excellent tune!

Ranger, have we gotten sufficiently off topic?

Sorry Ranger ... Let's see if I can get it back ... I haven't heard the song you mentioned Dan, but isn't he a contemporary of Blood Sweat and Tears ??? Which would be the frame of mind that RAnger was in when he started this thread ... And the way things have seemingly turned out for him should fit the tune - You Make Me So Very Happy ... Which I am hoping Ranger is at this point !!! Razz

Ah yea...You make me so...very happy, I'm so glad....you came into my life...... Great Tune! Very Happy

I still love Chicago, my all time fav group. I guess the new collection will be on CD's rather than cassette and 8 tracks Laughing

Why is running on a treadmill so much different than on the road? I think running on the road is easier for some reasion. My breathing is all off kilter. We have 8" of snow today and it is still coming down. I think it is a Canadian plot! Snow Storms of Mass Destruction (SSMD). I knew something was wrong this morning when I stepped outside and my shoes, socks, and tights were suddenly cold and very wet Surprised I went back inside and did crunches and pushups Wink

Do I sound positive enough? HA Razz

Now if we can just get JAFAR up and running, life would be sweet Thumbs Up

Garrett

I've always very much agreed with that.

Dan,

I finaly got the hang of the treadmill. I had to play with the speed control a bit till I found my pace. I get up at 5am and run three miles (according to the display) while watching CNN. I was disregarding the little safety clip for the emergecy stop, that is until saturday when the guy on the next machine tripped, fell, and shot off the back of the treadmill like a rocket Surprised There was a short period of silence to see if he was ok, then a little laughing. I cliped my safety device on when no one was looking Smile

Paul,

They have some nice weight machines too. I alternate back and forth between arms and chest/shoulders each day, with two day's off.

All this is keeping me upbeat and sane.

When I was personal trainer my gym had treadmills without those safety clips and it used to make me worrry. I intentionally didn't show several people how to use the treadmills because I was afraid without those safety clips that they'd end up seriously hurting themselves. I've never fallen off a treadmill but I've come close enough a couple of times. I think that intentionally not using them when they're available isn't real bright.

Ok, now I feel foolish Confused I discovered why I am having trouble with the treadmill. It seems there is an incline control, and I have spent the last two weeks running uphill Embarassed Ya think with an Engineering degree, I would be able to figure out mechnanical stuff Laughing The other "morning" people had a good laugh over that one. It started with one of the ladies asking "do you alway's run with the incline setting so high?", and I reply, "what incline setting??" Sad Duh...

Smile How high was it set?

It's typical to have a bit of an incline -- helps to balance out the supposed lessened difficulty of treadmill vs. road running and probably to keep you from getting too close to the front -- but usually so little that you probably couldn't tell without a protractor...

Umm Dan, it was set rather high. The first day I went to the gym, I picked out one of the four machines and run on it each morning. It seems that I picked the one no one else uses, so the setting was unchanged by other users. I think it was set at 7 out of a possible 10 or something like that..it is a PRECOR machine. I am OK now and have it on an automatic course setting that changes during the run to simulate cross country. I have also been upping the resistance setting every couple of day's.

Had a bad last two day's with having to be on site as they threw out all the stuff from my house into a dumpster. It's hard watching everyting you have collected over the years go out as trash. I think if I did not run and weight lift, I would be a basket case by now. Of course having you, Paul, and the others to chat with helps a lot too. I was sad to see the thread with you and Hammer... I like everyone on here, and I hope there is not a rift forming between you two.
