It's not easy running the rounds against guys faster than you... It's not like he had the top season best or PR going into the race. Despite all the hype, it would have been an upset for him to make the final.

So he's still a "fresh" athlete?

This is where experience does matter: an experienced athlete with his season best might have made a final.
I do believe that he shall come out of age by around 2012. These things do not just happen.
Hey what do you know -- is there somebody else to run in 2012?

Symmonds took nearly 0.3 off his PR to go sub-1:44 for the first time, with his 3rd place effort in Monaco.

I would say that puts him right on the bubble of making the WC finals. Hopefully, he can find another half second of improvement between now and then. Otherwise, he'll likely have to PR in the rounds to qualify through.

Nick Symmonds, in men's 800m, & Agelika Cichocka, in women's 800m, (POL), both were disqualified for lane violations. Both parent-federations tried to present video evidence to overturn the DQ's, but the DQ's were upheld without review of the very video evidence. In other words, both federations were told to take a hike. Sad

Weird. What was the grounds to not accept video evidence? Was it from a coach or someone in the stands, i.e. not official?

You don't see lane violations in the 800m every day...

It is likely that both videos came from the US TV--channel (covering the event) camera crew. I got the sense from the posting on www.pzla.pl -- Polish T&F Federation.
