Does anyone think that if MO is healthy (better than this year) and if Gatlin or Crawford get some decent starts, that within next year's Indoor season (2005) we could possibly see a new 60m WR?

6.39 is tough, and has only been achieved twice by MO, and also only been beaten outdoors (en-route split-times) by Ben, MO & Bruny, so we know that the 6.40 barrier is a tough nut to crack...I think perhaps is MO gets one of his 'Edmonton starts' the record can go, and well, if either Gatlin or Crawford get any kind of start they are dangerous...any thoughts?

I'm never big on predicting WRs, but there's enough explosive sprinters right now that I'd have to say it's as good a chance as ever. Gatlin isn't though of as an Indoor specialist, but every now and then he turns in some sick starts. Crawford has the raw power to be scary if he puts it together, and Mo just plain knows how to get it done.

___Crawford is the acceleration specialist. He should do it either this year or the following year. Gatling would be another guy on my list Wink
___Crawford runs the best race between the first 10 and 50 meters of 60, 100, and 200--meter races and between the 100 and 150 meters of 200--meter race.

I don't think the record is in jeopardy ... Mo was fast last year, but not at his '99 to '01 level ... If you remember he kept tinkering with his start right up to the Athens final ... I think he may have a 6.45 in him but going under 6.40 is a fine tuned race ...

Gatlin would have to catch a perfect race and then some ... I think his Athens race was as perfect a start as he will ever get and I don't think it was sub 6.40 material ...

Crawford has the explosion, but lacks the reaction ... If he caught a perfect start right from the gun perhaps, but he doesn't seem to worry about trying to do that if you watch him at the start of the race ...

Right now it seems that we really don't have any "starters" right now in the sprints ... Most of the guys right now depend on transition and strong finishes ... They'll run some fast times indoors, but I just don't see them as threats to the record ...

___I do agree that Mo would be a gerat bet, if he were back to his best. He has not been as of yet.
