hey everyone,
i am a exercise science student who is also a very keen runner, PB's for 5k an half marathon are 16:32 and 1:18:05 respectively. anyway, my main interest is in the area of recovery from endurance exercise. i am currently doing a research proposal on the benefit of sleep between session to help speed up recovery, (through increased protein synthesis and growth hormone secretion etc).I am interested to hear your ideas on day to day recovery stratagies between training sessions.
Thanks

Hi Brent,

I don't have anything scientific or overly enlightening to offer, but I'm a big believer in alternating hard and easy days. In the words of my former coach, "make your hard days as hard as possible and your easy days as easy as possible." Otherwise, the tendency is toward a lot of mediocre days.

Of course, the more endurance is emphasized, the more there is to be said for "mediocre" every day to build toward consistency...
